We will also share our recommendation for the most efficient setup to help you complete the game with ease. Get ready to save Mother and become a champion in Lotus Lantern!
Introduction
The gameplay and resources available are harder to figure due to the poor English translation and is some aspects it is more complex than Hades. In a few paragraphs I’ll explain the major points of combat and progression and also how to get the achievements since some of them aren’t very well explained.
Summary of Available Resources and Upgrades
Used to unlock upgrades in the Lantern in your room. Focus on these in your first runs to get stronger. Can be obtained as a room reward and by completing a challenge room without getting hit
Used to unlock new Artifacts in the Furnace and Techniques in the Fraction Selection Scroll. Defeat boss monsters to get them.
Used to purchase items in the Shop. Can be selected as one of the rewards for clearing a room.
Used to upgrade the traits you get when you place the purple orbs on your artifacts.
Used to refresh the upgrade options you get for your technique when you pick a book.
ENDGAME. Used to get the last unlockable artifacts and to upgrade techniques. Can be obtained after completing the game with extra difficulty options.
Room Rewards / Upgrades / Locations
Provides healing, a weaker version of this can also be bought in the store.
Where you can buy upgrades and healing, if you have the blue shard currency
One of several elemental buffs you can get. It’s better to select most for the element in each run and later you get a bonus from the boy that scales with each buff of the same type.
Used to upgrade your artifacts with traits, once they have 5 traits you get the better version of that artifact.
Used to upgrade your technique and your normal attacks.
Pick it to get a new artifact. If you already have one of each type it can be deconstructed to get the pink hexagon resource and a artifact damage upgrade. You can also get artifacts after defeating a boss.
Used to unlock special kinds of character upgrades.
Spin the wheel to get an upgrade, depending on your luck. There is a side quest that is obtainable here and an achievement for completing it.
Combat and Progression
Like in Hades, in your first runs, your main focus should be gems to unlock upgrades in the lantern, even if you have to sacrifice you own character’s power development.
After you defeat a boss monster, you get a resource that looks like a dark purple talisman, use these to unlock new artifacts, in particular the Glazed Vase, this particular artifact is a game changer.
After a few runs you’ll notice that is hard to heal and you can only get herbs in the shop or after defeating a boss, but with this artifact you only need to get enough energy (obtained by killing monster or with some skills you get in “Engraving”) to keep healing yourself.
Another game changing technique (selectable and unlockable in the scroll) is “Crush Enemy”, it adds lighting to your normal attacks and more importantly the active skill/special power makes you bounce between enemies while being invulnerable, and it keeps getting stronger if you pick technique upgrading books as rewards.
With the Vase Artifact, the Crush Enemies technique and some Lantern upgrades you should be able to win the game pretty easily. In the final runs you can prioritize getting artifacts, orbs for them, technique upgrades and Draw and Engraving for special bonuses that depend on luck.
Personally, I think the best ones, besides the Vase, are the Tower of Holiness (requires finishing off monsters with it to get stronger) and two cooldown reduction artifacts like Divine Wood sword and Heavenly Scroll.
Achievements
“Full Supply” and “The More the Merrier”
To get Full Supply you need to purchase 50 items from the store. Focus on getting currency to have enough to buy the four items at a time. Entering the Currency Room 20 times will award you the “The More the Merrier” achievement.
“Persist in”, “Put some intensity on it” and “More difficult than ever”
After winning the game you unlock extra difficulty challenges. Unlike Hades, you don’t need to complete the game with the extra points of difficulty, you only need to try, so to get “Persist in”, start 10 runs with difficulty challenges, and to get the other two accumulate 10 and 50 points of difficulty in several runs.
The Devil’s Love
To complete this side quest you need to enter the Draw room and talk with the NPC there, after this talk several times to the boy you find after together with your sister and the old man and again with the Draw room NPC to complete the quest.
Unlock all the skills
Self-explanatory. Just unlock all the skills in the scroll with the talisman-like resources you get for defeating bosses.
Bronze Pile
Defeat the practice dummy in the hall, the more upgrades you have, the faster it will be.
The Destiny
Fully upgrade an artifact with five beads to unlock it’s upgraded version.
All the other achievements
To complete the game you need to defeat the final boss three times. Doing this will award you all the other achievements.
Conclusion
With these tips and recommendation I think you can finish a faster depending also on how well you play and your reaction times. Still, the game seemed far easier than Hades, so I think anyone can complete all the achievements.
