If you’ve recently purchased the Deluxe Edition of ‘Like a Dragon: Ishin!’ and are missing DLC, you’re not alone. This guide will provide you with straightforward information on what you need to do to access your purchased content.
Introduction and Context
Are you frustrated by missing DLC you’ve purchased as part of the Deluxe Edition? Well, I have a solution that, hopefully, will offer a glimmer of hope in the long run.
For context, I was plaing LAD: Ishin! the other night on my Steam Deck and when I went to claim some of the DLC from Bakamatsu Bob that was included as part of the Deluxe Edition, namely:
— Ryoma Growth Support Kit
— Sword Upgrade Materials Kit
— Gun Upgrade Materials Kit
— Third Division Armament Expansion Kit
— Japanese Swords & Cannons Set
I noticed that they were unobtainable. No matter how much I reloaded my saves from earlier, no matter how many times I un-installed, verified integrity of game files, then re-installed, I STILL couldn’t get the aforementioned DLC. I do have to admit that I was frustrated enough to the point of almost refunding the game as well as sending a complaint email to SEGA directly, but I took a break, and today, came back to the fight with a fresh mindset.
I will admit that I know for certain that microtransactions are certainly not popular with a number of people (myself included), I wanted to offer a glimmer of hope to re-obtain the missing DLC. This solution will require you to purchase some items, so if you’re up for following the solution through, proceed on to the next section!
Solution (PC)
1) Open Steam, and then locate the game in your library.
2) Right click on the title, and then navigate down to Manage. Click Uninstall.
3) Once you’ve uninstalled the game, right click on the title again and then open the game’s Properties.
4) In the General Section, go to the Steam Cloud section and turn Steam Cloud off.
5) Re-install the game. Once it’s done installing, open the game and start a new game.
6) Play until you get to Chapter 2.
7) In Teradaya, go speak with Bakamatsu Bob, who is located on the main floor. If you’re unable to find him, he’s in the hallway off to the right where Otose usually is.
8) Obtain all available DLC content from Bakamatsu Bob. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE IN A NEW SAVE FILE AFTER EVERY DLC HAS BEEN CLAIMED!
9) Once you’re done obtaining the available DLC, exit the game.
10) Go to the Store Page for the game.
11) Scroll down far enough until you see a section titled “Items Available For This Game”. Purchase what you see there. In Canada’s case, it’s about $18 after taxes, but will of course vary depending where you are located.
12) Once you’ve purchased the DLC in Step 11, re-open the game to your latest save.
13) (Assuming you haven’t moved since speaking with Bakamatsu Bob since your last save) Speak with Bakamatsu Bob, and then you should see the DLC you have just purchased as obtainable. Obtain the DLC and, again, MAKE SURE YOU SAVE IN A NEW SAVE FILE AFTER EVERY DLC (ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU JUST PURCHASED IT) HAS BEEN CLAIMED!
14) Once you’ve obtained the purchased DLC in game, exit out once more.
15) Go to the SteamDB page for the game, located here[steamdb.info], and then scroll down a bit. You will see a “DLCs” tab. Click on it. If you prefer, you can click here to go directly there.[steamdb.info]Do keep in mind that you will have to be signed into SteamDB with your Steam Account for these next steps to work.
16) Once you’re at the DLCs section, click on the “Japanese Swords & Cannon Set” link. If you prefer, you can click here to go directly there.[steamdb.info]
17) On the top right of the page, you will either see a “Install” or “Launch” button. Click on it. This will automatically launch the game for you. Then load your most recent manual save.
18) (Again, assuming you haven’t moved since you’ve last spoke with Bakamatsu Bob) Speak with Bakamatsu Bob once more and then you should see the Japanese Swords & Cannon Set as obtainable. Obtain the DLC, and then save. Exit the game.
19) Open the game’s Propterties once again, and turn Steam Cloud back on. Once it starts syncing to the Steam Cloud, you will then be presented with a File Conflict. At this point, overwrite the save files in the Steam Cloud with your Local Save. Your Local Save ensures that all the DLC you’ve purchased and progress you’ve made up to this point will still be present if you move to another device, like the Steam Deck, for example.
20) Voila! You’ve gotten all the DLC now and you can continue on with your journey.

19) Voila! You’ve gotten all the DLC. Before you exit the game take a picture or screenshot of the following:
— Your most recent save from the game (that has all the information in it)
— DLC List from speaking with Bakamatsu Bob
— Inventory, Materials, Valuables, Katana, Special, Gun, Ammo, Headband, Breastplate, and Gauntlet Sections
Once you’ve gotten all these pictures taken (this is necessary strictly to ensure everything has synced properly exit the game, and then open the Properties for the game on your Steam Deck. 22) Voila! You now have all the missing DLC and now, you can continue on with your journey.
