Welcome to our guide on how to kill a Witch in Left 4 Dead 2’s Realism-Impossible mode. This guide will focus on methods specifically for this mode and can be done solo without exploiting any bugs. Let’s get started.
Fast Melee Weapon (Seated Witch)
Melee weapons deal 250 damage to the Witch in one hit.
To kill a Witch, you need 4 hits to any part of the body.
YOU CAN KILL A SITTING WITCH WITH ABSOLUTELY ANY HAND-HAND WEAPON.
Melee weapons have two characteristics that interest us:
1) Attack time
2) Break time between attacks
Thus, conditionally, all hand-to-hand weapons can be divided into 2 types:
Quick: Knife, Baton, Machete, Katana, Golf Club, Pitchfork, Frying Pan, Baseball Bat.
Slow: Cricket Bat, Fire Axe, Shovel, Crowbar, Electric Guitar.
Execution technique:
- You need to approach the Witch strictly from the back.
(The clearer you are with your back, the greater your chances of success.)
- Works both standing and sitting.
- It is necessary to approach the Witch point-blank.
(If this is not done, the Witch’s further behavior is unpredictable.)
- Approaching the Witch point-blank, you hold down the LMB and do not let go until the Witch is completely killed.
- When you hold down the LMB, a series of blows will occur. Your task is to make 1 jump at the moment when the Witch receives the first blow.
- At the moment of the jump, your crosshair will rise up. Therefore, you must continue to aim at the Witch, otherwise you will miss the second blow.
Advice: I advise you to approach and kill the Witch while sitting. Since, in this position there is better control of contact with the Witch.
The witch can appear on both flat and uneven surfaces.
In the case when the Witch appeared on the slope or steps, you need to know the following conditions:
- If the Witch is below you, then you will not be able to dodge the blow.
- To successfully dodge a blow, you need to be at the same height with her or slightly lower.
- There is a chance to dodge the Witch even if she is slightly sideways to you, and not with her back.
(But this chance is very small…)
Slow Melee Weapon (Seated Witch)
Execution technique:
- The most key factor: Position yourself PERFECTLY CLEARLY RELATIVE TO THE CENTER OF THE Witch’s BACK.
(When sitting, approaching the Witch, you need to rest against the central part of your back.)
- Hold LMB.
- As soon as the first hit on the Witch has passed, you begin to CONTINUOUSLY CLICK THE SPACEBAR.
(This way, the Witch will not turn to face you, and, accordingly, both the first and second strikes will miss. Which will give you additional time to make all 4 strikes.)
Comment: It is extremely important to be centered relative to the silhouette of the Witch. That is, the emphasis should be on the most distant part of the Witch. If upon contact you move to the side, then upon impact, the Witch will move and turn, and accordingly you will not have time to deliver all 4 blows.
This works the same way with Chainsaw. If you simply approach from behind and start cutting, and dodge the first blow by making one jump, then you won’t have enough time to kill.
Therefore, to kill the Sitting Witch with a Chainsaw, you must use the continuous jump technique.
Melee Weapon (Wandering Witch)
The Wandering Witch can be killed with absolutely any melee weapon.
Execution technique:
- Approach the Witch from behind, point blank.
- Deal 2 hits with a melee weapon.
- Take the jump.
- Land the next 2 hits.
In order to understand at what moment to press jump, you need to take into account two factors:
1) Scream of the Witch.
The witch, at the moment of her fright, emits a loud and prolonged cry. So, at the moment when the Witch stops screaming, you need to make a jump.
2) Strikes with hand-to-hand weapons.
The jump occurs after the second hit. But, since at the very beginning we learned that melee weapons differ in speed, this must be taken into account.
- If you have a slow melee weapon, then the jump is performed almost instantly after the second hit.
- If you have a fast melee weapon, then the jump is performed with a slight delay after the second hit.
Advice: Try to listen to the Witch’s scream. Since it is he who shows at what moment you need to jump.
The Wandering Witch moves around the map and can be on both flat and uneven surfaces.
In the case when the Witch is on an uneven surface or on a ladder, then you need to be on the same level with her, or a LITTLE above or below her.
ATTENTION: If the witch is significantly shorter than you or significantly taller, then you will not be able to dodge her blow.
Advice: If you have a fast melee weapon, and when the Witch hits or jumps, she runs away, then don’t fuss or run away, but continue to strike. Since the fast melee weapon hits three times between the Witch’s hits, you have a small margin for error.
Chainsaw (Wandering Witch)
- While sitting, approach the Witch from behind.
(Important: POSITION YOURSELF IDEALLY RELATIVE TO THE CENTER OF THE Witch’s BACK.)
- Start cutting.
(At the same time listening to the scream of the Witch.)
- Start CONTINUOUSLY CLICKING THE SPACEBAR at the moment when the Witch’s scream ALMOST STOPS.
(a split second before impact.)
Comment: In this case, it is most important not to miss the moment when the Witch began to make a blow and, accordingly, turn. If you miss, the Witch will turn at a significant angle and still hit you with the second blow, as in the case of the Sitting Witch.
Self-Loading Shotgun (Seated Witch)
- Benelli
- Spas
There is no difference, both weapons work the same in this situation.
Benelli: has 11 buckshot shells in its projectile, each of which deals 23 units of damage. (Assuming a hit to the head, at point-blank range.)
Accordingly, if all the buckshot hits the head, the Witch will receive 253 damage from one shot.
Spas: has 9 buckshots in its projectile, each of which deals 28 units of damage. (Provided it hits the head, point-blank.)
Accordingly, if all the buckshot hits the head, the Witch will receive damage of 252 units.
with one shot.
IN MODE (REALISM – IMPOSSIBLE) The Witch takes (x0.25) damage from any firearm when hit on the body.
Accordingly, if the body is hit at point-blank range, the Witch will receive only 62.5 units of damage.
The witch takes (x1) damage to the head. And when hit on the head at point-blank range, the Witch will receive all 250 units.
Execution technique:
- Approach the Witch strictly from behind.
- Aim for the head.
- You make a series of continuous shots.
(Your task is to make all headshots. To do this, you need to click LMB as quickly as possible.)
- Immediately after the first shot, you need to press jump. (Without stopping shooting.)
Comment: This method is really very difficult to implement. Because you can’t make a single mistake. All shots must be aimed at the head.
If you don’t push against the Witch, then at the moment of the first shot her actions will be unpredictable. (That is, the Witch can run to the side or start circling around.) If you interrupt the shooting, even for a split second, you will not have time to finish it off.
If the shots are aimed at the body, then you will not have enough time between the Witch’s attacks.
Advice: It is better to approach and perform actions while standing. This way you will be closer to the head and it will be easier for you to hit.
Self-loading shotgun (Wandering Witch)
- Benelli
- Spas
There is no difference, both weapons work the same in this situation.
Execution technique: (From the back)
- Approach the Witch from behind.
- Take 3 headshots and stop shooting.
- Make a jump the second the third shot is completed.
- You wait until the Witch turns to face you.
- Finish off the remaining bullets into the Witch’s head.
Comment:
1) It is better to approach the Witch at a slow pace, moving her along a straight path, this way you clearly position yourself relative to the center of the back.
2) At the moment of the Witch’s fright, you need to take a short pause in order to perfectly fit the timing.
(This pause is clearly visible in the video.)
3) Do not make left-right movements after frightening the Witch, as this may cause her to move or run away.
(You need to position yourself relative to the center of your back at the moment of approach, and not during the process of frightening her).
4) If you don’t push against the Witch, her actions will be unpredictable.
(The witch may run to the side or start circling around.)
5) I do not recommend trying this method until you learn how to kill a wandering Witch with melee weapons.
(After killing a wandering Witch many times with melee weapons, you will intuitively know when to jump.)
Technique: (from the face)
- Approach the Witch from the side of her face.
- Aim for the head.
- You make a series of continuous shots.
Standard Ammo Stun (Seated Witch)
- AWP
- Scout
- Military Sniper Rifle
- Hunting Rifle
- AK-47
- magnum (Not recommended when playing online with other players)
Conditions under which the stun will work:
- The witch must be in a calm state.
- The shot must be strictly in the head.
Comment:
- It is important to take into account that the duration of the Witch’s stun depends on which side the hit will come from.
- If you shoot at the back of the head, the Witch will run a short distance in the direction of the shot.
- If you shoot in the face, the Witch will practically not budge, but will only bounce back.
- A stun shot to the face lasts significantly less than a stun shot to the back of the head.
(Consider these factors when choosing your distance.)
When you have stunned the Witch, you have a little time to run up to her and extend her stun with a blow from the butt.
(You can keep the Witch stunned using a butt for an indefinitely long time)
Execution technique:
- Get as close to the Witch as possible, while leaving her in a calm state.
- Take a precise headshot.
- Run up to the Witch and hit her with the butt.
- In the breaks, between blows of the butt, strike one blow with a melee weapon or fire several shots.
Stun by Explosive Ammo
(There will be a separate section on how to stun the Witch with a grenade launcher.)
The Witch, both Sedentary and Wandering, has three states:
1) Calm.
2) Evil. (The state when the Witch is angry, but does not yet run into the attack.)
3) Scared. (The state when the Witch runs to attack.)
Attention: Only with the help of a Gun (Shotgun) – Both the Sedentary and the Wandering Witch CAN BE STUNCHED IN ANY CONDITION, IN ANY PART OF THE BODY.
When using any other firearm, you need to know the following conditions:
Sitting Witch:
- You can only stun with a hit to the head. (In any condition.)
- Explosive ammunition, when hit on the Witch’s body, DOES NOT AFFECT HER.
- You can stun the Witch with Explosive Ammunition from any weapon.
Wandering Witch:
- You can only stun with a hit to the head. (In any condition.)
- Explosive ammunition, when hit on the Witch’s body, DOES NOT AFFECT HER.
- You can stun the Witch with Explosive Ammunition from any weapon.
Shooting the Witch (Explosive ammo)
One magazine, of any weapon, will be enough with a small margin.
When using Explosive Ammunition in all Shotguns, a bullet is used instead of a buckshot shell.
(Damage to the Witch’s head, in this case, will be slightly less than 250 units, since the bullet loses energy as the distance increases.)
Execution technique:
- Take a comfortable position at an average distance from the Witch.
(Both Wandering and Sedentary.)
- Take the first shot to the head.
- You wait until the stun wears off and the Witch starts running towards you.
- Make subsequent shots to the head, with pauses for the duration of the stun.
When using other firearms, the method works exactly the same. All Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns and M60 Machine Guns. Everyone has enough magazine capacity to kill the Witch.
But, when using an Assault Rifle or a Submachine Gun, you need much more time, since you still have to shoot exclusively at the head and one, maximum two shots at a time.
Since, if you simply shoot the entire magazine at the body, then the damage will be (x0.25) and, accordingly, there will not be enough capacity + The Witch will not go into a stun state.
Explosion Stun (Seated Witch)
- Grenade launcher
- Pipe bomb
- Gas cylinder (White)
- Gas cylinder (Green)
In order to stun the Sitting Witch with an explosion, you need to know one subtlety:
In REALISM-IMPOSSIBLE Mode, the Sitting Witch is stunned by an explosion, only at the moment when SHE HITS HER HEAD UP. (LOOKS TO THE HEAVEN.)
Grenade launcher:
- In order to stun the Witch using a Grenade Launcher, you need to fire a shot at the moment when she throws her head up.
- A grenade launcher shell deals 250 damage to the Witch. Therefore, after stunning, only 3 hits with a melee weapon are enough.
- The stun will work when fired from any side of the Witch.
Attention: Using Explosive Ammo will not provide any stun advantage.
Pipe bomb:
Stunning a Witch using a Pipe bomb is truly a piece of work, as you need to take into account the following factors:
- The stun will only work if the grenade lies clearly next to the Witch, on the side of her face.
- Time before the grenade explodes.
- Distance.
How to perform a correct throw:
- It is best to sit on the side of the Witch.
(This makes it easier to follow the movement of her shoulders and head.)
- The distance to the Witch should be average.
(This is developed through experience.)
- The throw is best performed while sitting.
(This way, the grenade will fly smoother and bounce off the floor less.)
- Pre-press the LMB.
(In order for the grenade to fly out clearly at the moment when it is necessary.)
- You need to aim at the Witch’s knee area.
When to throw a grenade:
The witch has an animation that goes in a circle. We are interested in the moment when she wipes her tears with her hand.
As soon as the Witch has wiped away her tears and puts her hand down, we begin to count the movement of the shoulders.
(The witch sways back and forth.)
At the moment when the Witch makes the third movement with her shoulders and lowers her head down, then, together with the reverse movement of her head, you release the LMB.
Gas cylinder (Green):
- It doesn’t matter which side the Gas cylinder is on, the stun will still work.
- The main thing is that the balloon is as close to the Witch as possible.
(The closer the Gas cylinder is to the Witch, the greater the chance of success.)
There are two ways to explode a green Gas cylinder:
1) Fire one shot at him.
(This way the Gas cylinder will explode after some time.)
2) By firing a series of shots at him.
(This way the Gas cylinder will explode after 3 hits.)
In order to stun the Witch with a green balloon by shooting once, we need to understand at what moment to shoot:
During one animation circle, the Witch makes only one deep bend towards the ground. After bending deeply, the Witch makes two head shakes. Strictly, during the break, between the first and second shaking of the head, you must fire a shot at the Gas cylinder.
Gas cylinder (White):
- It doesn’t matter which side the Gas cylinder is on, the stun will still work.
- The main thing is that the Gas cylinder is as close to the Witch as possible.
(The closer the Gas cylinder is to the Witch, the greater the chance of success.)
In order to stun the Witch with a white Gas cylinder, you need to shoot at the Gas cylinder while throwing her head up.
