Get ready to conquer Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning with this comprehensive guide! Packed with useful tips, tricks, and suggestions for early gameplay success, as well as general info and a walkthrough for achievements, this guide has got you covered. Plus, we’ll dive into the impact of your choices on the game and their benefits. Your feedback and suggestions are welcomed, so let’s dive in and make the most out of this game together!
Introduction
Most of what’s included in this guide are from hundreds of hours of my own time playing but also will include information from other sources which will be credited at the end of this guide.
I recommend reading though this whole guide before starting a game to get the most out of it!
Disclaimer; suggestions and recommended routes/ideas are based entirely off my experience and the routes that worked best in my own game. This is not the *Only* way to play and may/may not be the best for you.
Early Gameplay
- FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT The goal is to set you and your game up for success! I highly recommend doing this first thing. This will make the best merchant in game friendly with you which grants a higher net of gold when selling items. ———————————–
- 1.Start your game on “Hard” difficulty. (The main difference between easy and hard is armor & weapons need repaired more frequently in Hard difficulty) This will also help with one of the achievements below
- 2. After progressing through the beginning area: The well of souls located in Allestar you will run until you reach a Fateweaver by the name of Agarth. Go through the dialogue and fight the enemies and head towards the next quest line which will be located in the town of Gorhart
***Your next step after this would typically be to follow the active quest and then go to the first NPC with an explanation point in Gorhart. Ignore this for now!***
- 3. Once in Gorhart go in to the Golden Age Alchemy it will be to the left once you reach the town. Talk to the pacing NPC “Nanne Hanri” and accept her quest.
- 4. You will run to Agnur Farhal (just outside of Gorhart) and once inside continue to follow the quest. Destroy the first group of bandits. Once completing that RUN to each objective and destroy the crates- there will be 10. At this point I do NOT recommend fighting all the bandits as they are a higher level than you. Return to Golden Age Alchemy after and talk to Nanne. You will be in her good favors.
This is FUNDAMENTAL to a financially successful start. Because you completed her quest you will get better price for your items. Nanne offers the best fencing prices in game.
EXPLORATION
I recommend spending as much time as you can exploring and unlocking locations across the map. It’s beneficial if you hop between the world map and local map to see how much of the world you’re actually discovering along the way. With this strategy, questing in the future should be much easier since fast travel to visited locations will be unlocked.
MISCELLANEOUS
- The Detect Hidden skill is easily one of the best skills you can invest in, in early game. It helps increase the amount of gold found throughout the world and also helps you locate hidden loot through out the world too.
- Sell as much as you possibly can asap. locate & utilize the low level skill trainers. you can only use each one once and can be locked out of trainings depending on your skill level. (see the skill section for more info)
Tips/Tricks/Suggestions
- Pick Up ANY and ALL items you find in the world, and add it to your “junk”. after your inventory is full fast travel back to Gorhart and sell your items to Nanne in the Golden Age Alchemy. Coupled with exploring, you can get your money built up pretty quickly.
- (will add more later on-WIP)
Skill Information (Skill Tree, Trainers, Skill Books)
In the main game there are 9 Skill Points availabe via books (1 per Skill), 36 points via trainers (4 per Skill), 4 bonus points when selecting a race (+1 in two Skills, and +2 in one Skill), and the 40 you earn while leveling. This makes for a total of 89 out of 90 Skill Points obtainable in the main game.
Skill Tree
Alchemy: Alchemy grants you the ability to harvest mystical reagents from the land and combine them to create powerful arcane potions. Each level increases the chance to successfully harvest reagents.
Blacksmithing: Blacksmithing allows you to repair your arms and armor as they become worn or damaged, forge entirely new equipment, and extract components from salvaged items. It also increases the effectiveness of Repair Kits.
Detect Hidden:Detect Hidden enables you to find hidden treasure caches, deadly traps, enemy ambushes, and secret doors by placing markers on your map. Also increases the amount of gold found throughout the world.
Dispelling:Dispelling grants you the ability to dispel protective magical wards without suffering harm and lowers the difficulty of them.
Lockpicking: Lockpicking grants mastery over the picking of mechanical locks and like dispelling decreases difficulty.
Mercantile: Mercantile allows you to sell things for more and buy for less
Persuasion: Persuasion allows you to talk your way into and out of situations that would normally require a different solution
Sagecraft: Sagecrafting allows you to craft gems from shards found throughout Amalur, socket them into equipment, and combine lower quality shards into higher quality shards. Each level increases the chance of higher quality shards dropping as loot.
Stealth: Stealth increases the time it takes NPCs to notice you, as well as decreasing their effective detection range if they are unaware of you.
Racial Bonuses
(photo correlates in order to below)

When you have all three of them, you have to combine them in inventory in order to reveal the treasure on your map. After you dig up the treasure get back to Audrey and she will give you another piece to start over. These are four treasure maps locations of their parts:
(IMPORTANT: It was reported that if you sell the Dvargan treasure and then buy it back before completing this quest, the game will indicate obtaining a new treasure and prevent you from digging up a new one. This will block you from ever completing this quest and getting the achievement.)

**Black Hole (Fatesworn- Secret)
Dealt fatal magic with at least 100 active Unholy Void effects
“I set Mark of Flame as one magic ability. I made sure that the D-pad was set to quickly access health potions. I then fast-traveled to Vekreth’s Maw, where you spawn on top of a small platform. In front of the platform are an ice bear and two Barghests. Without moving, I started spamming the Mark repeatedly, but did not detonate it. It barely damages the enemies, so building to 100 was easy. I would tap my D-pad whenever I was low on health and use a potion. Once it got over 100, I detonated it. After the combo faded back to 0, the achievement unlocked.”
Missable Achievements
Dispelled 50 wards
This one is *technically* missable. There are a finite amount of chests in game. If you see a chest with purple haze around it, you need to dispel it to open it. If you invest in dispelling you can also auto dispel and it will count towards this.Talk to a gnome in Adessa called Daedinnear located in the Adessa Laboratories. He will give a quest called “lab Assistant’ and you’ll be able to dispell around 20 chests.
Wooed Rast Brattigan
This achievement will require you to pay special attention to the replies you make to Rast Brattigan.
