Welcome to our incomplete achievement guide for Grønland! This guide will provide you with information on the various achievements and story progression in this charming game. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned player, this guide will help you navigate through the game and reach your desired achievements. So let’s dive in and uncover all that Grønland has to offer!
Introduction
I’ll be referring to the in-game map very frequently, particularly through a grid system. The columns are defined by ABCDE, while the rows are defined by 12345. So, the town in the center of the map would fall under C3. The X to the left of the town would be B2. I may have to rework this entire system later because I still find myself tripping up, but that’s the current layout within this guide.

Story Achievements
Map – Got the Map
After arriving in the central town, sleeping in the church provides you access to the Map that will carry you through the rest of the game.
Kayaker – Rode in a kayak
Talking to the Fisherman after sleeping in the church gets you the kayak you need to start progressing through the game and visiting all the locales.
Tent – Got yourself a tent
Talk to Salik on the bench in town and you’ve got yourself a tent. Potentially not a required event, but it also provides access to the Compass within the tent, an item that instantly warps you back to the center of the map whenever you need to.
North Memory
After traveling to the North, you’ll reach the Wastes. But navigating the wilderness requires knowing a set pattern. You might think you have to recruit the local sledding dogs to navigate the path, but you actually just need to find the Careful Dog in the Doghouse (D1 on the map). Observing the Careful Dog within the doghouse will show you the path to progression.
But if you’d prefer not to memorize the dog’s path, here’s an approximation of the route to take:
Start from the entrance to the Wastes (1), follow the path towards 8.
X 8 5 4 X
X 7 6 3 X
X X 1 2 X
A successful navigation will provide you with the North Memory and a Knife!
South Memory
Using the item you acquired at the North Memory, you can now navigate up the mountain marked on C5 on your map. Straight-forward from there!
East Memory
To find the East Memory, you need to enter the Lighthouse. While you’ll receive a key at the South Memory, you also need to boost your strength with a Bracelet purchased at the Commissary in town. But the shopkeep won’t trade it for anything. Finding a jewel is your best bet, which is covered in more detail in the Jewels section.
After the trade, you gain the power to move boxes, opening the path to the Lighthouse.
End
The end of the road. After acquiring the East Memory, traveling to the cave found at C2 wll bring you what you need. Use the Stained Locket on the blocked path and then traverse the sliding puzzles to seek your truth.
Ending Achievements: Ascend/Again
These are only accessible if you’ve collected all 30 memories. If you’ve met these conditions, selecting specific dialogue choices determine your ending and your achievement. It is impossible to get both in one playthrough.

Dog and Bone Locations – (Friend to Dogs/Fine Paddle)
After clearing the North Memory, dogs can be found at select places across the map, but each of them needs to be fed. Some of them will accept fish from the village as food, but bones are their main priorities. Finding all the dogs nets you the Fine Paddle as a reward.
Dogs can be found at:
1. C2
2. B3
3. B4
4. E2
5. E4
The bones tend to respawn in certain locations. One can be acquired from the quest giver at the Ice Sheet/C1, but the rest will be found in the overworld.
Bone Locations include:
1. C1
2. D1
3. A1
4. A2
5. E4
Jewels and Jewel Related Achievements (Tall Tower/YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE)
Jewels can be found at several notable locations and are extremely beneficial to track down.
The Diamond can be found at Tall Tower at D4. Access to the Tall Tower can be achieved by providing the Doorman with a Hare (see Misc. Achievements) or bribery.
The Jade can be found at the Brothers Isle/A2, which requires a visit to E2. Entering a house will provide you with an Old House Key, which will unlock a house at A2.
The Amber can be found in the Dripcave at A4. A series of sliding puzzles is required to get both the Amber and the Memory Sign in here.
The Onyx can be found after navigating the Longcave sliding puzzles at E5
The Sapphire is in the cave at E2, which requires both the light and the Bracelet to navigate.
Allegedly this should also result in gaining the Hoard achievement, but it hasn’t activated for me.
Collecting every jewel and handing them over to the shopkeep in town gets you access to 100 coins, but also gets you a Stone Key to a building next to the Church. This also provides the means of acquiring the YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE achievement.
Misc. Achievements
At the Ice Sheet/A3, some wild rabbits can be found. Once you’ve acquired the Knife from the North Memory/Wastes, you’ll be able to catch a hare. When you spot one on the map, you’ll have a chance to capture it.
This achievement is all about positioning. When you approach a hare, it will run in the opposite direction from you. So, you want to approach the hare so that it will ram into one of the rocks instead of vanishing into the snow. Stuck between a rock and a you, the hare has no path forward.
Beeswax
The harp player at E1 would like some Beeswax as a nice treat for herself. Its easy to find at A5, the Private Island. A nice gift for a friend!
You can’t fix what you already broke though.
Dropped Box
Pretty straight-forward. In the central town at C3, there’s a box collapsed onto the shore. Grab it with your kayak, return it to the porter, and you’ll get an achievement and a coin for your troubles.
Green Hair
Several different steps to this one compared to other sidequests.
1. In the village, there’s a woman looking for her green-haired daughter.
2. You can find her at C2, where she’ll ask for Bleach to get the green out of her hair
3. The Bleach can be found when searching through Snakecave at A3
4. After giving Green Hair the Bleach, help her through her frustration with her family. Tell her Mom how upset she’s made her daughter. The mom will give you a family heirloom.
5. Give the girl her mom’s gift and she’ll return home happily.
6. Checking back in with mom should net you a coin and an achievement.
Walrus Man
This guy at B3 loves Walruses!
First, you can return his lost gloves to him. They’re worth 2 coins at the shop in town.
Second, you can find him those Walruses. They aren’t far away, only one screen up at B2. Give him the good news and he can be found hanging out with the Walruses after a few screen reloads.
Research Assistant
After talking to the Researcher both in town and at the Brothers Isle (A2), he’ll open up in town about his dreams of building a good historical document. You can find an Oral History book in the Lonely Island House (A1).
Mountain Cave
Found on Mountain Isle (C5). Look for a path of flowers pointing to the east cliff side and it’ll lead you right to the Cave.
Frog
Appears in the Atoll region (D5) in a cave. By my best guess, the frog spawns after completing the Lighthouse section.
