In this guide, we will discuss the various items in Freedom Planet 2 and how they can help you in your gaming experience. From Brave Stones to Potions, we will cover their uses and when to use them. Keep reading to learn more about these helpful items.
Boosters
This increases your max health from six to seven. It’s one of the weaker boosters and there are much better ones you can equip. It’s available early in the game, but it quickly get’s outmatched.
Element Burst
Adds a poisoning effect to your attacks. This does increase your damage by a small amount, but it’s rather negligible. It’s available early in the game like Max Life Up, so you can equip it until you get better items.
Crystal to Petals
This turns all Crystals into Life Petals. This seems very powerful at first, but Crystals are non-existent during boss battles where you would really need Life Petals. This one is best left untouched unless you’re struggling in the main stages.
Shadow Guard
Press guard to create a shadow clone of your character that copies your attacks. This is similar in the same vein as Element Burst as it’ll increase your damage slightly and it increases the spread of your attacks, but it needs to be refreshed constantly and you essentially need to control two characters. I’d say this one is worth using only if you like the concept.
Petal Armor
You will have 3 seconds of invincibility when hit by an attack without a shield. This is a strong booster as it makes you hard to kill. This is the best one to boost your survivability.
Payback Ring
Your attacks increase by 25% when you have no stocks left. This doesn’t seem that strong at first, but when you use it with the No Stocks Brave Stone it becomes by far the best damage boost you can get. I’d highly recommend this one with the No Stocks Brave Stone.
Powerup Start
You begin the stage with your character’s power-up. This is useless for Lilac and Milla. For Neera it’s good for boss fights in closed arenas. (Battlesphere challanges, Gong’s Dojo, etc.) For Carol it’s the best booster you can use as it’ll give you access to Bike Carol who has the best mobility in the game.
Elemental Charms
Transforms all shield crystals into the element you choose. You also start with a shield of the element you chose. These are good for stages that have a lot of hazards of the same element. The Earth Charm is very good for when you’re farming for crystals as it attracts crystals to you.
Rainbow Charm
Randomizes all shield crystals. Invincibility crystals may appear. There’s no reason to use this over any of the other Elemental Charms. It’s useless and doesn’t deserve the 5 gold gem asking price.
Potions
Increases your maximum running speed while running on flat ground (Max 25%). This seems good at first glance, but compared to the other potions, this is one of the weakest ones. The characters have plenty of ways to gain momentum and there will rarely be a time when you’re going across a long stretch of flat ground.
Attack Up
Increases the damage of your physical attacks (Max 20%). This is the best potion for fighting bosses. Every stage with the exception of Gravity Bubble has a boss in it, so this is the one I’d recommend using the most.
Cheaper Stocks
Reduces the number of crystals you need for a stock (Max -75). This potion is useless. There are much better potions that increase your survivability.
Extra Stocks
You begin the stage with additional stocks (Max +1 Stock +25% to next Stock). This one isn’t bad. I’d say use it if you don’t have one of the stronger potions.
Healing Strike
Your physical attacks absorb life from enemies (Max +50% life absorb). This is the best potion by far. It gives you healing against bosses when you normally wouldn’t be able to heal and it’s extremely effective against bosses with big health bars.
Strong Revivals
You recover more life petals when reviving (Max +2.5 life when reviving). This is the best potion to use if you’re struggling with the game. Effectively giving you double the health if you use two lives to revive.
Strong Shields
Increase the number of hits that elemental shields can absorb (Max +5 shield points). This is a good potion to use if a stage has a lot of shields in it and it’s the best one to pair with the Elemental Charms. It actually outshines Strong Revivals in this regard. When you revive while you have an Elemental Charm equipped and this potion, you’ll also revive with a shield that can take seven hits. This is also the best potion and only potion you should use when going for Rainbow S Ranks.
Super Feather
Increases your jumping power (Max +20%). This is the best potion for Neera, even over Healing Strike and Attack Up, unless you’re doing boss fight stages. For Carol, Lilac, and Milla it’s mostly unneeded.
Brave Stones
Items to Bombs
Swaps all item containers with bombs, 25% bonus. This isn’t the best Brave Stone to use as Heart Fruit are also replaced with bombs. I’d highly recommend Healing Strike with this one.
Life Oscillation
Swaps your life bar between full and empty every 30 seconds, 20% bonus. Completely useless. It makes you far to vulnerable and doesn’t have a 25% bonus.
One Hit KO
Your life bar is permanently empty, 75% bonus. This one is good to pair with an Elemental Charm and Strong Shields. This is also the only one that’ll let you get a Rainbow S rank as long as you pair it with another 25% Brave Stone.
Time Limit
Adds a timer to the stage. If it runs out before you beat the stage, you don’t get a bonus, 25% bonus. If you’re really good at getting the par times in the stages, then this is one of the best Brave Stones you can equip.
No Stocks
You have zero lives, 25% bonus. This is the best Brave Stone to equip as you need to beat the stage without dying to get an S rank. It also pairs well with the Payback Ring making it useful outside of going for S ranks.
No Petals
Life Petals turn into crystals, 20% bonus. This is outclassed by Items to Bombs. There’s no reason to use this one.
Double Damage
You take double damage from all sources, 25% bonus. This one makes you quite weak and I’d highly recommend NOT using this one.
No Guarding
Disables your Guard, 20% bonus. Same thing I said as Double Damage, except even worse as this only has a 20% bonus.
No Revivals
You can’t revive if you’re KO’d, 25% bonus. Another great Brave Stone for getting S ranks. Pair this with No Stocks.
Expensive Stocks
Increases the number of Crystals necessary for an extra life by 100, 25% bonus. Yet another great Brave Stone for getting S ranks. Pair this with No Stocks or No Revivals.
Potion Seller Mod
First, the changes made to the game:
~ 4 item slots instead of 2
~ Maximum life increased to 7
~ By default, reviving restores 3 life petals instead of 0.5
~ Game-Overs now always spawn you at your last checkpoint with stocks fully restored, but lock your crystal bonus to 1% until you either restart the level, or quit to map. The exception to this is boss-only stages with no checkpoints – for the sake of convenience those will not count your defeats.
~ Extra Stocks, Strong Revivals, Max Life Up, No Revivals, and Expensive Stocks are no longer obtainable.
A few things to note: S ranks can be obtained by using three Brave Stones that total a bonus of 70% or more AND a Booster. Rainbow S ranks are easier to achieve due to the addition of Brave Stones that have higher then a 25% bonus.
Rainbow Charm
Now grants +10% crystals and can be purchased in Yuni’s shop. Also has its cost reduced to 1 gem. This makes the item decent for the early game, but not essential.
Shadow Guard
Duration and range increased. More usable, but still not good unless you like the gimmick.
Payback Ring
In addition to granting +25% attack power at 0 stocks as it did before, it will now also grant +15% power at exactly 1 stock left. With the additional item slots and the ability to use this when going for an S rank, it’s probably the best item in the game when paired with the No Stocks Brave Stone.
Powerup Start
Same as I said for the Payback Ring, albeit only for Carol in this case.
Potion Seller Mod Items
Decreases your maximum falling speed by up to 50%. This is useful if you’re having trouble with the platforming, otherwise I wouldn’t recommend using this.
Energy Potion
Increases the rate at which your special meter regenerates by up to 20%. If you’re playing as Milla, it reduces the amount of cube energy each shot consumes. This is the best potion for Lilac, as you want your Dragon Boost available as often as possible. It’s also a good choice for Neera. Milla and Carol don’t have much need for it.
Resonance Potion
Standing in place charges a shockwave, which you then release in front of you by pressing the Attack button. Adding more of the potion reduces charging time. This is useless. It takes to long to charge and does very little damage.
Angel Tear
Reduces all damage taken by 50%, and grants life regeneration. Insanely overpowered and I’d say you should only use this if you’re REALLY struggling with the game as it takes most of the challenge out of it.
Warpstone
While you are in a stage, everything is 20% slower. Another item to help struggling players. Takes a lot of the fun out of the game though, so use with caution.
Magic Compass
Points towards the closest checkpoint you’ve yet to reach. Use this if you’re getting lost in stages. Otherwise, ignore this in favor of stronger options.
Turtle Godshell
Blocking a hit with Guard grants 30% longer invincibility, and a small amount of life. Good for the early game, but gets outclassed quickly.
Phoenix Tonic
You start with 1 extra stock, and recover 2 extra life on your first revival. Really useful item for struggling players. Highly recommend.
Ninja Garb
Perform a short roll in the direction you’re holding when you Guard. You can do some fancy movement with this, but it kills your momentum.
Ice Crown
Creates icy shockwaves when hit. Recharges after you lose 3 petals of life or shields. Surprisingly useful if you pair it with Strong Shield and an Elemental Charm.
Tinker Glove
Gain 50% more cores. Absolutely essential when you’re farming cores for the museum.
Guardian Charm
After a shield takes elemental damage, it changes to that element. Pairs great with Strong Shield, an Elemental Charm, and Ice Crown.
Idol of Greed
You start with 1 less maximum life, but bosses drop crystals as you damage them. +15% crystal bonus. Low crystal bonus, but it pairs very well with Crystals to Petals.
Explosive Finale
Revivals recover only a sliver of life, but you cause en explosion when knocked down. +20% crystal bonus. Easy recommend to pair with two 25% Brave Stones for getting S ranks.
Madstone
While you are in a stage, everything is 20% faster. +50% crystal bonus. No bonus if paired with Warpstone. This is a risky one, but it gives you more slots to work with for Boosters and it helps you get Rainbow S ranks.
Bomb Magnet
Each non-boss enemy has a 35% chance to be rigged with a proximity bomb. +25% crystal bonus. Great for the Battlesphere since you can’t use the Time Limit Brave Stone there. This is one of the best ones to equip in general.
Gravity Boots
You always push down on the control stick while on the ground. +20% crystal bonus. Horrible. Never equip this one. It kills your momentum and general movement.
Invisibility Cloak
Makes your character invisible. +40% crystal bonus. This paired with the Madstone means you don’t need to use the One Hit KO to get Rainbow S ranks. Unless you’re going for Rainbow S Ranks, I wouldn’t recommend this one.
