If you’re new to Fishlets and want to learn more about tank mode, you’ve come to the right place! As someone who has played over 100 hours of the game, I will provide you with a basic guide to tank mode. Let’s dive in!
Intro
Be aware that the game is only about a month old right now and changes may occur in the future. I may or may not update the guide as updates happen.
Fish Keeping
Fish become upset/miserable when their conditions are not met, e.g., too many/not enough of same species or incorrect water type (fresh vs. salt). Upset/miserable fish do not produce any $/min, but there are no other consequences.
Fish Moods
Happy: Content fish in a tank with a heater. Happy fish do not produce more &/min than content fish.
Upset/miserable: Fish is in incorrect water type or has too many/too few of same species in the tank. Upset/miserable fish do not produce any $/min. Putting a heater in the tank will not raise the mood.
Fish Grades
When breeding, the grade of the breeding fish doesn’t seem to matter and the grades of offspring are random. For example, my current breeder is a B-grade common variant and it has produced all grade types.
Fish Variants
Rare variants shared by all fish species:
Albino, Melanistic, Golden, Glass, and Unique
Rare variants sell for more than common variants and produce more $/min.
Breeding
Click the pink heart in the fish’s information box to put it in the breeding box. The fish will produce an egg every 30 seconds. The maximum amount of eggs that can be produced is eggs + fish = 100. So, if the only fish in the tank is the one in the breeding box, then it can produced 99 eggs.
Eggs are only produced when the game is running and the tank with the breeding box is open. It’s a long process to produce 99 eggs and you cannot do anything else in the game, so I like to have the tank open on one monitor while I do something else on the other one.
You’ll need a breeding box ($1,000,000) and you’ll want an auto-sorter ($500,000). That’s an investment of $1,500,000 + breeder fish. To make a profit on one round of producing 99 eggs, your fish will need to sell for an average of just over $15,000 each. Therefore, I suggest waiting until you have the $20,000 fish unlocked, but the $50,000 would be better.
Tank Upgrades
Auto-sorter $500,000- Sells unwanted fish automatically. You can choose which grades to sell. If you lock fish, they will not be sold by the auto-sorter. This is great for selling off bred fish and when purchasing fish just to get rare variants. Set the auto-sorter to sell all but rare variants, then just click to purchase and sell non-rare variants immediately.
Heater $25,000- Makes content fish happy. Does not affect the mood of upset or miserable fish. Happy fish do not produce more $/min than content fish, so this is pretty useless, imo.
Auto-feeder $200,000- Feeds fish every minute. Fish do not need to be fed. I strongly recommend you do not buy this. All that will happen is that an annoying noise will pop up every minute.
Filter $75,000- Cleans spoiled fish food. Only needed if you feed your fish. Tanks don’t get dirty, so this is also not needed.
Tank upgrades cannot be removed once purchased. The only way to remove them is to reset the tank and start over.
