Are you looking to create a powerful build in ELDEN RING? Look no further! This guide is perfect for players who want to center their build around the mighty Maliketh’s Black Blade weapon.
Stats
The stats for this weapon are very important for optimal damage output. For vigor, its not exactly required for any set amount, but in general, it should typically be 60 so you arent getting oneshot by a ton of late-game bosses. Endurance should be atleast 35 so you can still have a medium load with the weapon equipped. Unfortunately, this weapon makes you heavy roll if you wear a heavy armor type. So, if you want to medium roll (VERY IMPORTANT), wear a medium armor set, such as maliketh’s set, or combine sets so you dont heavy roll. For your strength, it should be set to 60 so you do a substantial amount of damage for every swing. On every stat, after 60, it softcaps and provides less scaling from every level. This, obviously, includes strength. Another thing to take into consideration here is that two-handing a weapon gives 50% more strength, so if you two-hand it, you will essentially have 90 strength, nine levels away from the maximum amount. Since this is a colossal sword, it is basically essential to two-hand it anyway. For mind, it should be atleast 25 so you can use aow a few times before running out of fp, and being able to use buff incantations while still having some fp left to use for offensive incantations and for the aow. Your dexterity should be at 35. The Black Blade scales with dexterity, but scales lower with this weapon when compared to strength, so it should be lower than strength. Since strength is softcapped at 60, to get more for every level on the weapon, dexterity should be looked into for this weapon as well. Intelligence is not important for this build at all because spells will not be used as they take up memorize spaces. Faith should be atleast 46. This may sound very specific, because it is. An incantation that should be used for this build requires 46 faith. Destined Death, the weapon’s aow, also scales with faith, making it do more damage. Essentially a win-win. Arcane is not needed for this build at all, so I recommend keeping it at the base stats that you started the game with. When you get more levels, you should put enough into mind to manage your usages on destined death or incants, put around 10 more points or so to have more stamina (because the weapon uses a large amount of stamina quickly), around 10 or so more points in dex so you do more damage, and max strength so when you two hand the weapon you basically have 148 strength total. Faith should be looked into more, but is not required.
Talismans
These talismans are the ones that I personally use for this build. Some people use other talismans for this build and recommend those. This is my personal recommendations for this build. If you already have possibly seen the talismans that other people use for this build and are planning to use those, I recommend you skip this section. The talismans for this build that I use are Shard of Alexander, Viridian Amber Medallion +2, Axe talisman, and Carian Filgreed Crest. Shard of Alexander is to boost the damage of Destined Death, Viridian Amber Medallion +2 is due to large stamina usage with this weapon. Axe talisman is used so charge attacks (the best move for the most damage in the moveset) do even more damage. The Carian Filgreed Crest is so you use less fp when using Destined Death, as Destined Death uses 40 fp regularly, but uses only 30 when using the talisman.
Incantations
The incantations I recommend you are use are Black Blade, Flame Grant Me Strength, and Golden Vow. Black Blade is an offensive incantation that uses 2 memory slots. When used, does a slice that sends a projectile that, when used, temporarily reduces an enemies hp by 10% (this works on bosses as well) The trick to making this incantation permanent is by landing the Destined Death aow in the window that Black Blade is in effect. This also builds up more permanent hp reduction since Destined Death also reduces 10%. Except Destined Death is permanent, so landing the aow essentially reduces a bosses’ hp to 90% of what it should it be, and when also landing Black Blade, reduces it to 80%. Flame Grant Me Strength increases fire and physical damage for 30 seconds. The fire damage is not used at all, but the physical damage is what your looking for. It buffs the strength that you already have by 20%, which is very good. Im sure there is a better incantation to use for strength, but this is what I use. Golden Vow is an incantation that buffs damage and damage negation for 45 seconds. It buffs damage output by 11.5% and buffs damage negation by 7.5%. This may seem bad, but in usage it is a great incantation.
Wondrous Physick
The best combination that I use for this build on the wondrous physick is the spiked cracked tear and the holy cracked tear. If your curious about why the holy cracked tear is used, its because Destined Death actually does holy damage, and the cracked tear buffs this (the weapon itself does not do holy damage, dont worry). Now, you may be thinking that holy damage sucks and that the aow is bad because it deals holy damage. This is only half true. Holy damage is bad, but the aow is still good. No matter the resistance a boss has to holy damage, the health depletion still occurs at the same amount, no matter what. Morgott, who has heavy holy damage resistance, still falls vitcim to the health depletion. The spiked cracked tear buffs charge attacks, which is the best way to deal damage with this weapon, and with the Axe talisman already mentioned on top of this, the charge attacks are going to do a HUMONGOUS amount of damage.
Flask Allocation
At max flasks, I recommend 12 crimson tear flasks (hp) and 2 cerulean tear flasks (fp). This is because the only uses of fp are incantations (most of which are buffs and the other one should only be used once in a fight) and aow. This is so you get fp to still use your aow a few times during a boss fight (or just in a fight).
Playstyle
I would recommend using charge attacks for most damage and occasionally do a heavy jump attack to get off some quick damage. When entering a boss arena, use Black Blade and try to land a Destined Death in between the window that you have to do so where the Black Blade is still in-effect. After that, if you want to, use Destined Death a few times.
