Welcome to our gaming guide for Driver: Parallel Lines! In this article, we will show you a simple trick to enhance your gaming experience by using the in-car free look mode without having to constantly hold down the middle mouse button. This feature cannot be re-bound within the game, but with our guide, you can enjoy driving like it’s GTA. We will also cover additional features and benefits, as well as any drawbacks. Please note that this trick will only work with the Steam Overlay enabled, so make sure to have it on. Let’s get started!
How To
- Find a car / bike / whatever vehicle you’ve just found
- Get in it
- Hold down MMB, this will make your camera to look backwards, thus activating the “free-look” mode
- Entering Steam Overlay mode while holding down the MMB, and release MMB during the overlay (important)
- Turn off the overlay and enjoy
- Press MMB again to deactivate this mode. Follow instructions above again to reactivate.
Additional Feature(s) and Benefit(s)
- This mode will always be activated no matter after you change cars / go to main menu or any menu / start a new mission, until you press MMB again.
- You can also free-aim inside a car. Since the game won’t allow you to shoot wherever you want from your car, at least you can target lock a specific ped/car from a specific direction, which is useful for some missions.
- Cinematic/photographic purposes
- Searching for star tokens? no problem, this will never break your finger again.
Drawback(s)
- When you accidentally pressed the MMB again, it will deactivate this mode and you’ll need to redo the instructions above (From “How To” section) to re-activate it again. This usually happens if you had already get used to the old habit (holding the mmb).
- The view is somehow a bit too “locked” that some viewers won’t get comfortable with this mode.
- Whenever you enter a vehicle, your camera will look backwards first until you re-align the camera forwards.
- Unlike GTA IV / V, you can’t shoot backwards in-car, in this game
- (The most painful part) You can’t quickly look backwards/forwards, as you need to align the camera all by yourself. (Maybe with some keybinds will work, but untested yet as the key binds in this game are too glitchy / unorganized)
- Not recommended for motorbikes, since the “wheelie” and “stoppie” key binds can’t be rebound, the up and down view axis will work as the stoppie or wheelie works.
