Unlock the twisted mysteries of Dredge with this comprehensive guide to all hidden achievements. Dive deep into strategies, locations, and tips to master the game’s secrets.
Storyline Achievements
These achievements are as follows:
The Key – Turn the key in to the collector.
The Secret – Turn the music box in to the collector.
The Bond – Turn the ring in to the collector.
The Chains – Turn the necklace in to the collector.
The Moment – Turn the pocket watch in to the collector.
Unshackled – Turn all four of the above relics in to the collector. This triggers the bad ending.
Sated – Refuse to turn in the final relic, visit the mayor of Greater Marrow and the lighthouse keeper. This triggers the good ending. You can also turn in the relic and fight the collector to get it back so that you can get the Unshackled achievement while still getting the “good” ending.
From the Fog
How to get it:
Select your foghorn and use it while you’re sailing. You should hear a response, especially at night. If you’re having trouble, sail around the Marrows at night.
If you see the giant angler masquerading as a tugboat, using your foghorn should get a response. Be quick: the angler can destroy your boat!
Cruel Heat
How to get it:
Lay on that haste spell and hold it. This is one of the spells you’re given in the game and it’s honestly my favorite one, but it’s gotten me in trouble several times. In order to get the Haste ability, you’ll need to find the ornate key and then go to Blackstone Isle and talk to the Collector.
When using Haste, take care not to completely fill the burn meter as you will damage your boat. The trick is to let go of the haste button just before you fill the meter.
If you’re having trouble getting the Cruel Heat achievement, take everything important that you can lose out of your cargo (either by selling it or putting it into storage.) Then see the shipwright and repair everything. Afterward, use haste and hold it even until the burn meter fills up. Despite damaging your boat, you’ll get the achievement and you shouldn’t lose your boat (hence why you repaired it in advance.)
Do a happy dance and maybe repair your boat.
Perfect Packing
How to get it:
Fill every cargo space in your boat. I would recommend starting out by fishing as fish can quickly fill cargo spaces. Try for something that takes up a lot of space but fits nicely in your cargo hold (you know, not the bronze whaler.)
Then use smaller items to fill in the gaps. Rotting fish eventually turn into rot which only takes up one space making it perfect for filling gaps.
Mixed Results
How to get it:
Once you’ve finished the quest line at the Twisted Strand (the bayou place), the Airman (located at E13) will make bait for you. Bring a ton of fish over to him and get a ton of bait.
Lay down bait in various places until you unlock the achievement.
Safe Havens
How to get it:
This one might be a pain. You literally have to visit every dock in the game. On top of visiting each of the docks marked on the map (these are the black dots), you’ll have to visit these docks:
Campsite at the southern side of Gale Cliffs (O2)
Campsite between the Gale Cliffs and Stellar Basin (J3)
Campsite on the northern end of Twisted Strand (F15)
Campsite between Devil’s Spine and Gale Cliffs (P10)
Unwanted
How to get it:
Instead of selling fish, discard them. Twenty-five of them. Rot doesn’t count.
Feeling Prepared
How to get it:
You’ll need to install fishing poles, nets, and lights into every slot available for them. This can be tricky, especially with the fishing poles. Move various items around to get a configuration that allows you to fit everything.
If you’re having trouble with this achievement, work on other achievements first. This will help you find or unlock equipment that might be easier to configure so you don’t have to play tight-squeeze-Tetris.
Dimensional Bypass
How to get it:
First, you’ll need to unlock Manifest by bringing the rusted music box to the collector.
The game doesn’t really indicate what “a long distance” is, but if you use Manifest while you’re at the traveling merchant in Stellar Basin, you’ll unlock this achievement.
Unsustainable Fishing
How to get it:
You’ll want to go to an area that has no or very few fishing spots. If you use Atrophy and a fishing spot is too close, you won’t earn the achievement and you’ll have to wait for Atrophy to cool down.
You can either fish enough so that the fishing spots are gone or go to the very edge of the map where fishing spots are few and far between. Using Atrophy at this point should yield nothing.
Slowly creep up to an area that might have a fishing spot and continually press the button for Atrophy where you’re just close enough to use the spell, but far enough to earn the achievement.
Prey Sighted
How to get it:
Equip your spyglass and look out on the ocean at various fishing spots. You’ll want to get a glimpse of at least one of each category of fish:
- Coastal
- Shallow
- Oceanic
- Abyssal
- Hadal
- Mangrove
- Volcanic
Coastal, shallow, and oceanic types can easily be spotted in The Marrows area. Abyssal and hadal can be spotted in or near the Stellar Basin. Mangrove fish are in the swamp/bayou area, and Volcanic fish can be found in the Devil’s Spine.
Banisher
How to get it:
You’ll need to have the Banish spell from the collector. To obtain spells from the collector, complete his quest series.
A threat is anytime a monster attacks you (or attempts to.) This can be a monster that comes from your fear (like a shark attack) or from an angler fish (basically anything attacking you.)
Have your Banish spell equipped and use it to get this achievement. If you’re having trouble with getting things to attack you, you can do various things to increase your fear. You can use other spells given to you by the collector (such as Atrophy), you can be on the high seas after dark, and drive your boat toward apparitions. I’ve found that the area between the Marrows and Stellar Basin can get your fear level up.
Once your fear is up, monsters will start attacking you and you can use Banish to temporarily protect yourself.
Servant of the Shrines
How to get it:
You’ll need to put the required fish in each of the shrines as follows:
#1 The Marrows Shrine
- Location: J9
- Fish needed: Five cod
#2 Gale Cliffs Shrine
- Location: P3
- Fish needed: one decorator crab and two rock crabs
#3 Stellar Basin Shrine
- Location: H2
- Fish needed: blacktip reef shark, bronze whaler, hammerhead shark, ghost shark
#4 Twisted Strands Shrine
- Location: D13
- Fish needed: entwined mullet
#5 Devil’s Spine Shrine
- Location: O14
- Any two aberrations
The Pale Reach Hidden Achievements
The hidden achievements from The Pale Reach DLC are as follows:
- Feeding Time
- Icebreaker
- Fresh Fish
- From the Black Depths
I’ll go over each one in detail.
Feeding Time
Icebreaker
The icebreaker is a pretty nifty tool to have in order to unlock special areas and complete quests in The Pale Reach, so this achievement should be at the top of your list when visiting the area.
Fresh Fish
From the Black Depths
I caught him off the eastern side of The Pale Reach while trawling for The Craterous Seer (an aberration of the Stargazer) for the Frozen Favors quest.
The Iron Rig
There is only one hidden achievement in the Iron Rig DLC.
The Gleaming Goliath
In order to achieve this, locate an oil spill. For this achievement, you’ll need to stay in the oil spill as doing this on open water has a tendency not to trigger the achievement.
Navigate through the blobs in the ooze and use items to increase your panic. This will cause the creature to appear. Steer your boat toward the creature’s mouth in order to start his attack and at the last minute, dodge his attack.
