A walkthrough for the story quest
Introduction
Welcome to the guide for Dreaming Isles! This game has been recently released and I thought I could share some of the starting hints to help people to get around and answer a few common questions. This guide is still under heavy construction.
This guide follows the basic story as of the original release.
You can also follow my beginner’s guide for the basic layout of the world and how to get started.

Chapter 1: Shipwrecked
The chest to the north in your starting position has an axe. Use it on the trees to gather wood to cross the bridge on the west and gain access to the fields.
In the fields, you’ll find a hoe and 8 wheat and carrot seeds. Plant them to get your farming started.
The key to the house is close to the statue to the upper left.
There is no need for watering cans!
It rains every day and it will keep your crops always watered.
Inside the house, you’ll find a Crude Sword recipe on the ground.
When you go down the stairs you’ll meet Elise and inside the new chest, you’ll get a pickaxe and a sword.
Go through the dungeon to get to the next area, it is the island next to yours.
This game has no “curfews”, you can stay up as much as you want.
The game will be saved every time you enter a new zone.
In that area you’ll meet Miles and he will give you your first quest: to harvest 12 wheat to earn his trust and he’ll give you his late daughter’s ship.
You can also find the recipe for the Stamina Potion recipe inside his house.
For Miles’ next task, you might want to cut down some trees and mine some iron ore. They respawn and he will ask you for the materials to fix the boat. You’ll need 50 wood and 15 iron. If you want, you can have them in your inventory when you bring the wheat.
If you enter the next cave to the east, you’ll find rats and bats. The former can stun-lock you if you aren’t careful. If you keep walking through the cave and follow the train tracks after crossing the bridge you’ll reach a tunnel for a new area within the caves. Inside there will be spiders that spit venom. Turn to your left immediately and at the end of the way you will find the Health Potion recipe.
If you keep going to the left after reaching the entrance to the room with the spiders, you will eventually reach an open area with kale crops on the top right that you can harvest. If you are lucky, they might also drop seeds.
You can kill rats and bats to gather skulls and fangs to make fertilizers
Once you have shown Miles the 12 wheat, he will ask for the 50 wood and 15 iron. After that, you will unlock both the shipping bin and the ship.
Chapter 2: Your Ship
You use up to have your ship move forward and steer it with the left or right, and down will stop. Be careful, as you can damage your ship if you hit the land or rocks. You can repair your ship at your farm.
With your ship, now you are free to explore.
Once you get enough reputation, you can upgrade your ship.
When you buy the bellow deck upgrade you will find a Cutlass weapon in a chest
Chapter 3: Pick your faction
This is the first quest in both factions.
Once you talk with either, you will need to sink two ships of whichever opposite faction you wish to join.
- If you want to join the Pirates, you need to sink Global Trading ships
- If you with to join the Global Trading, you need to sink Pirate ships
Craft at least 10 to 15 cannon ball in the workbench using one ore.
Once you see the target ship, go towards it as you keep clicking on it as a target will appear and you will be sent in a battle screen.
Wait for your cannon to turn red and aim with your mouse towards the enemy ship to fire
Once you manage to turn your relationship to “Friendly” to either faction, go back to either Elise or Garret to continue.
Chapter 4: The Fire Stone
You need to go to the Witch Island to the east. Talk with Bella the witch and she will remove the barrier that leads to the eastern area of the island where the goblins live.
Keep going to the right, across the bridge and up to the bonfire. Keep going to the right until you see a cave. You can find the Goblin chief inside.
You don’t need to fight him!
Grab the Fire Stone and get out if you don’t want to fight him
The goblin chief won’t respawn, but the goblins will.
Once you get the Fire Stone, go talk with Bella to complete the mission.
Now if you use the Fireball and keep the Fire Stone in your inventory or backpack you can use the fireball spell for as long you have mana.
If you are with the Pirates, the Water Stone is your next stop.
If you are with Global Trading, go talk with Garret and he will send you to get the Water and Air Stones.
Fire!
You really know how to heat things up.
Chapter 5 : The Water Stone
You will need to befriend Sai in Moon Hollow next.
He likes fish, so you might want to get one either by fishing or via the card game to get one half of a heart. The next heart you can get by also giving him a gift box from shipping crops.
Once you have one heart with him, Sai will talk with you about a sailor who asked about the Western Tower and will reveal that you need to befriend a witch to gain access.
Sail to the Witch Island and speak with Bella. You should have enough friendship with her to remove the barrier.
Return to Moon Hollow and get to the entrance in the far left to get to the tower.
First Floor: Hit the short pillars with oval stones to activates it and turn off the barrier to the next floor.
Second Floor: Activate both pillars to spawn four water slimes. Defeat them to get the Water Stone.
Now with the Water Stone you can cast Homeward Tide to teleport back home.
If you are with the Pirates, go talk with Eloise and she will send you to get the Air Stone.
If you are with Global Trading, the next up is the Air Stone.
Water Water Everywhere
Nor any drop to drink.
Chapter 6 : The Air Stone
You will need a Sturdy Pickaxe
Get the recipe inside Freya’s house in Freestad
Time to go to Freestad. Go right next to the lighthouse and you will see a odd-colored boulder. Hit it with your Sturdy Pickaxe and you can go in.
Warning: this is the hardest dungeon of the game so far
Make sure to bring as many Health Potions as you can and be at least Sword level 4. Sword level 5 recommended, as your character gets a projectile with their sword
You might also want to mine a ruby from the ore in that cave to craft a Ruby Sword if you don’t have one.
Be mindful of the fire elementals, they hit hard and are fast. Make your way throughout the dungeon and past the fireballs in the bottom session. Once you reach outside, you will find a clearing with werewolves.
Deal with the smaller werewolves first, they hit hard but only at close range. The bigger werewolf is much easier to learn the pattern, but one hit and it will remove most of your HP.
Once you defeat him, you’ll get the Air Stone.
The Trade Winds allows you to perform a wind attack.
If you are with the Pirates, go talk with Elise for your next mission
If you are with Global Trading, go talk with Garret for your next mission
It’s a Twister!
You can move with the speed of wind.
Chapter 7 : Rock your Boat
Keep farming and earning money. You might also keep fighting the ships from the opposing faction to move to the Admired rank.
I personally like using strawberries, along with keeping planting wheat. You need wheat for ropes and strawberries drops a lot of fruit every time and you can turn some of them into seeds. It is a good profit overall.
Make sure to go to Scythe and go to the abandoned building in the east side to defeat the giant spider and get the backpack
Chapter 8 : Recipes List
