Welcome to our guide on Construction Simulator’s vehicle packing length and transportation! In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about how the game handles packed construction machines on trailers, including the length of each machine and how to combine them for optimal transport efficiency. This guide is perfect for players who prefer realistic transportation without the use of the teleport option. Let’s get started!
Introduction
The guide will explain the basic vehicle packing system, how to pack them properly onto trailers followed by a list of the packing lengths of all vehicles in the game, including DLCs.
Rules for vehicle packing
- Cargo beds are made out of blocks with 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 meter in dimension, wich can be seen in the construction view.
- You can only use the following trailer to transport vehicles:
- WBUILDER HS7S
- NOOTEBOOM MCOS-48-03(EB)
- NOOTEBOOM MCOS-58-04V
- Vehicles will occupy a certain length on a vehicle trailer. They will use the whole width and height on said length and blockade all the cargo blocks there.
- Some vehicle can overhang the end of a trailer by a single packing block.
- If a vehicle does not use up the whole length, you can add more vehicles or building materials on the cargo bed.
- The direction a vehicle is facing on the trailer can be relevant for the effective packing length. Some vehicle combinations can only pack if the two vehicles face each other. Some combinations need the vehicles face opposite directions.
Packing onto a trailer
Every ramped trailer has a boxed off area at the front, wich in reality is used to store the tie-down material (marked with the red oval). Standing next to it on the outside gives you a button to activate the pack/unpack function. This is a nice option to avoid getting into the tractor every time you want to secure or unload a machine.
For vehicle transportation, you have 3 options to pick from.
- WBUILDER HS7S with 23 blocks length and 2 retractable ramps
- NOOTEBOOM MCOS-48-03(EB) with 14 blocks length and a long single-piece foldable ramp
- NOOTEBOOM MCOS-58-04V with 14 blocks length and 2 retractable ramps
I recommend to primarily use the green WBUILDER to transport vehicles, as well as the MCOS-48. The ramps on the MCOS-58 are shorter, so machines with low ground clearance tend to get stuck when driving up.
When transporting several vehicles on a single trailer, you just have to make sure the combined length of the vehicles is less or equal to the block length of the trailer, then it should work.
As an example, a WACKER NEUSON RC70 soil compactor with a length of 8 and a BOBCAT S550 wheel loader with a length of 6 will fit onto a NOOTEBOOM trailer together. This still can fail to pack, so make sure the first vehicle is as far forward as possible and park the second vehicle just at the rear of the trailer.
Most vehicles will just use the space of their total length. The rotary drilling is a special case though.
With a packed length of 13, you can put a WB RAMSTER or any other machine with a length of up to 10 blocks behind the rig.
You can also use the space for something different, like construction materials.
This is the rig packed with all the construction materials necsassary for a wind power plant on high difficulty, on the european map.
With a smart combination of transport capacity, you can minimize the amount of trips you have to make to get everything needed onto the construction site.
Methodology Notes
- Only one vehicle at a time.
- The vehicle was facing forward.
- The vehicle was driven as far forward as possible and then packed on the trailer.
- A single piece of construction material was placed as close as possible behind the packed vehicle.
- The occupied slots were counted in the construction view.
About the list:
- The vehicle groups are in the order as they are displayed in the game.
- The vehicles within the group have been arranged in alphabetical order.
- “Packed Length” is the total number of cargo blocks in length that are occupied by the packed vehicle and cannot be used for additional vehicles or cargo.
- “Packs on NOOTEBOOM” means if the vehicle can be packed onto the shorter red NOOTEBOOM ramped trailers. This is usually normal for any vehicle with <= 14 blocks of length, but there are a few exceptions.
- “DLC” lists in what DLC a vehicle can be found. The list contains every DLC vehicle as of today (2024-07-29)
- d.n.f. = Does not fit onto any trailer and will not pack
- ramp hit = the vehicles will pack once on the trailer, but cannot drive onto the NOOTEBOOM trailer by itself. The asphalt pavers will get stuck onto the trailer and have to be “unloaded” with the RESET function.
- can’t be transp. = cannot be transported on the trailer. The vehicle is too long or too wide and will not pack.
