If you’re trying to get the rarest achievement in Back to the Dawn, “The Sun”, but don’t want any spoilers, this guide is not for you. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get “The Sun” achievement without giving away any details.
Introduction
Note: All of these things I am about to list are either not necessary that you do, or can be done in the same run as the one you plan to get this achievement on.
-Bond with Hakuna (Warthog)
-Gain rapport with either Max (Honey Badger) or Pickman (Lizard) so you can purchase the hammer
-Read the DIY maestro book
-Have “The Moon” Achievement already
The Setup
Progress with the main quests until you have access to the mail room.
Note:You can finish the main quest line if you want it doesn’t change anything, you just need the mail room for this escape.
After finishing act 1 you will be able to get the staff block job which you need for the escape and to advance in the sewer.
If you have already got the moon achievement you will know how to get this job so I am not going to talk about how to get it in detail but I will make a short list of things you have to do to get it.
-Talk to Alex and accept the lipstick quest(You can save 300 if you do a charisma roll at the visit)
-Talk to tony and pay him 200(You can haggle with a charisma roll to only pay 100)
-Talk to either Sam or Richard to teach you how to fix the plumbing
After this you talk to Bruce and he gives you the job for 0 good conduct credits.
I recommend you get the hammer for building the bridge in the sewer. It can either be bought from Max or Pickman if you have gained enough rapport with them, it can also be found on the table in the room on the roof site.
This item is fairly easy to get it can be found on the top left in the art room in the general building.
Even though this doesn’t say optional, it is.However, I highly recommend you do repair your relationship with Maggie to do this you can call her on the phone and have small talk with her and you should write letters to her on the crafting bench in your room and mail them. Then once you have 60 rapport with Maggie you can do a charisma roll to repair your relationship (However the charisma roll at 60 rapport is pretty unlikely I recommend you do it at 80-100 rapport).
Note:If you decide not to do this you must save a lot of money (about 1000) for later.
You need to have bonded with Hakuna the best way to do this is to give him Jewel Scarabs which you get from foraging at recreational time if you are unlucky and don’t get any, his loved gift is beer which you can get easily from working at the roof site. However, Jewel Scarabs aren’t super rare and are better for getting his rapport up quickly, you can also share your lunch with him if there is a free seat next to him at lunch.
I am not going to go into detail about how you get to the sewer I am just going to explain the stuff you need to do in the sewer. If you have already done the sewer escape (The Moon Achievement) all of this will be quite easy for you which is why I recommend you get that achievement first.
-Go in the first door on the right of the ladder to turn on the electricity (Read the DIY Maestro book in the library if you cba to do the puzzle)
-Lock pick or break open the septic tank room (first door on the left of the ladder) and grab the worn socket in the top right of the room
-Do the sluice gate puzzle
-Dismantle the boards on the big door and build the bridge all the way to the right of the ladder (building the bridge is instant with the hammer)
-You then need to gain access to the other side of the broken bridge meaning you need to go through the staff block (after moving the shelf off the vent in the day at the staff block job) go upstairs out the window and into the vent and you will end up on the other side of the broken bridge
-Drain out the sewage water by opening the sluice gates
-The next day go to the broken bridge and grab the rusty crank
The Poopy Pendant Quest
After accepting this quest you will be able to interact with the top right septic tanks in the sewer.
You will find a body of an antelope and after searching the body you will get a new quest line which asks you for 2 main things.
Note:The pendant for the actual barbershop quest is in one of the other septic tanks so you have to search them until you find it but you don’t need to have actually finished the barbershop quest for the escape you just need to have accepted the quest to interact with the septic tanks.
This bit is quite easy if you have already bonded with Hakuna. If you have bonded with Hakuna, Thomas will have identified the remains as Lisa the antelope the second you have searched the body. However, if you haven’t yet bonded with Hakuna, it is fine, you will get this part of the quest done the second you bond with him. If you don’t want to bond with Hakuna there is an alternative option which I don’t recommend you do as you have to listen to a conversation between Tim and Bob on Day 1(Monday).
Or you have to listen to a conversation between Caeser and Tim on Day 5(Friday).
Or you have to listen to both(I don’t know if this is even a way to do this but I heard if you listen to these conversations you will get a prompt to ask Tim about Lisa but as I have never done the quest this way I don’t know, which is why I highly recommend you just bond with Hakuna).
TC-13
To get to billy’s belongings you will have to go to the staff room at night (which you will have access to if you are at this bit of the quest) and go to his locker which is the one I am hovering over in the screenshot below.
When you are at billy’s locker lock pick it read all the stacked papers and the letter (I don’t think you have to read the letter for this quest but better safe than sorry). It will then ask you to cut the tarp from the remains which you will need scissors for (hence why you got them from the general building).
After this it will ask you to make a collage at the general building crafting table which is pretty self explanatory.
It will then also ask you to write a letter to disguise the tarp with the collage(which is done at your crafting bench in your room).
When this is all done you mail it and you will be able to confront billy the next day.
Conjugal Visit
Assuming you have already repaired your relationship with Maggie this bit is quite easy you just have to call her and tell her you want her to give you a conjugal visit and you tell her you are planning to escape there is no money or anything needed after this you have basically escaped because after this call it gives you the message that this is the final step of your escape which basically guarantees you have escaped meaning you will have got the achievement.
If you don’t want to repair your relationship with Maggie you don’t have to (even though I highly recommend you do as its much easier than this way) another option is to get Barbara to give you a conjugal visit which requires you to get her number from Alex which will cost you 150 then when you call her she says that she will only give you a conjugal visit if you wire her money that will cover the visits and the money you stole from her in the lipstick quest which you may or may not of done (When I did this I lied and didn’t pay her anything and she told me I had to wire her 800 but this number might change depending on the amount of money you give her in the lipstick quest) after this you have to talk to billy to ask him to wire your money to her (you can do a charisma roll with billy to get him to pay for half or all of it) after you have done that you have to call her the next day to see if she has received the money and she will agree to give you a conjugal visit and you will get the message that this is the final step of your escape.
