WEAPONRY
GUIDED ROCKET PODS
Guided rockets pods are a short range AOE weapon that works well as a saturation weapon. Although at reeduced damage to the unguided version.
They can be unlocked by researching barrage weapons and finding two damaged pieces in the lagoons of BURROW island
Here is a map of where to find them on the island:
LANCE CANNONS
The lance cannons are a long range penetrating weapon that works well against heavily armored targets.
They can be unlocked by reaching the Artifact (marked on the map) and charging it up by defeating enemy vessels, usually at installations.
BONE CANNONS
Bone cannons are long range precision weapon that work well against un-armoured ship components.
They can be unlocked by harvesting a demon carcass on any of the smaller islands, more often Spearhead.
This same accomplishment will unlock several other bone components, given you have the corresponding research.
Here a detailed map of where carcasses has been spotted:
ANTIQUE CANNONS
Antique cannons are a unique semi-adjustable cannons with a medium range and explosive damage.
They are mostly decorative for old sailing builds.
They can be unlocked by completing the Francis Drake challenge, which has you cross the archipelago in a sailing vessel of no less that 15 tons, equipped only of non-lifting components and wind powered propulsion.
It is recommended to have a few things for success:
A reverse placed sail or harpoons to get unstuck.
Good point defence to dispatch of rogue drones and occasional unmanned vessels.
A design capable of self-righting in case that a water spout picks you up from the water.
Make sure that the island name is displayed on your screen with every visit.
Here is a detailed map of the challenge:
MEAT TURRET DEPLOYER
The meat turret deployer is a re-skin of the twin turret deployer, giving no advantages, but deploying meaty balloon turrets.
It can be unlocked by killing a rare Glass Worm in SteelSands desert during the Spookening (read further for Spookening)

Some cosmetic options are only available for a limited time during the game’s anniversary, which falls on the 30th of July every year.
Just deploy in any expedition to unlock these cool aesthetics:
SMOKE DRAGOON
A special dragoon that releases a monochromatic smoke trail behind it for a duration of one minute.
GOLD ARMOUR
Gold armor weighs the same as synth armoring, yet having only half its actual HP, making it more of a purely decorative choice rather than functional.
FIREWORKS CANNON
The fireworks cannon uses a small amount of firepower and shoots no-damage explosive projectiles at a very short range. These will explode in various colorful displays of light.
The Spookening is a special event that falls on October of every year, lasting approximately the whole month.
