A complete achievement guide to earn all Far Cry 4 achievements!
Outpost & Fortress Achievements
-Deliver Us From Evil:
“Liberate 12 Outposts (Campaign only).”
-All Clear:
“Liberate all Outposts (Campaign only).”
Outposts are combat encounters marked on the map where you must eliminate all enemy force to liberate it. Doing so unlocks this as a fast travel location and a base of operations for you. This will assist with other achievements by making it quick to travel around the map to mop up other achievements.
You will need to liberate all outposts, earning two achievements for your work. Note that you should at least stealth one outpost by breaking the alarms to unlock the “Tread Lightly” Achievement, seen below.
-Tread Lightly:
“Liberate any Outpost without triggering an alarm in any mode (Campaign only).”
The best way to not trigger an alarm is by breaking the alarms present. They are identifiable as tall posts with orange sirens atop and a orange box with a light on the bottom area of the post.
Shooting, meleeing, or holding an interact prompt when close on the box part will disable the alarm. Some outposts have more than one alarm depending on difficulty. A ranged silence weapon like a sniper rifle is what I always find works best.
You could also ghost the outpost, never being detected by enemies. Note that outposts can be replayed.
-Display Of Fortitude:
“Conquer 2 Fortresses (Campaign only).”
Forts are like outposts but more defended and larger. Thus they pose more of a challenge. There are 4 of them in the game but only 2 of them must strictly be completed for achievement concerns.
The four Fortresses are as follows:
- Varshakot (X: 512.3, Y: 432.6)
- Baghadur (X: 197.2 ,Y: 595.5)
- Ratu Gadhi (X:561.7, Y: 605.3)
- Rajgad Gulad (X: 810.8, Y: 787.2)
IMPORTANT NOTE! Liberating a Fort, will cause enemies to stop attacking your liberated outposts. This could interfere with the “Defender” achievement completed by repelling 3 Outpost Retaliation Parties, so do NOT liberate all fortresses until you have at least obtained this achievement.
Open World Event Achievements
-Defender:
“Repel 3 Outpost Retaliation Parties (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must fight off 3 Outpost Retaliation Parties. So what is a Outpost Retaliation Party? This is when enemies will attack a captured outpost to try and retake it.
To trigger these you can fast travel between captured outposts. You will not be attacked if you’re near/at an Outpost, so walk/drive away a fair bit until you get attacked and you should eventually get the message “The nearest Outpost is under attack” and then go fight them off. Just clear all the enemies.
Note that this achievement is MISSABLE. When you complete Fortresses, Outpost Retaliation Parties will stop happening in those regions.
-Robin Hood:
“Hijack 3 Royal Cargo Trucks and return them to a liberated Outpost (Campaign only).”
For this achievement, you must hijack 3 of the large blue Cargo Trucks that can be tracked on the map with the following icon . They spawn randomly and infinitely. Once in the truck just drive it back to any outpost to cache it in and repeat 3 times.
-Hand Of Justice:
“Eliminate 3 Pagan’s Wrath convoys (Campaign only).”
Defeat 3 of Pagan’s Wrath Convoys for this achievement. Convoys spawn randomly like Cargo Trucks. Convoys can be found at the following icon . You must eliminate all enemies as part of the 3 vehicle convoy 3 times for the achievement. Explosives make this very easy.
-Defuser:
“Complete 3 Bomb Defusal quests (Campaign only).”
To earn this achievement, complete 3 Bomb Defusal quests which are marked on the map with this icon . They are put on the map after completing Bell Towers. Stealth is your friend otherwise enemies will activate the bomb which will only give you 30 seconds to defuse it.
-The People’s Champ:
“Reach Arena Rank 5 (Campaign Arena only).”
Arena rank 5 is required for the achievement which is not too bad to earn. The Arena is unlocked during the main story. About 5 matches should earn you rank 5 with the easiest mode being Battles. Even if you die you will be awarded with XP progression!
-No One Left Behind:
“Rescue 15 hostages in Hostage Rescue quests (Campaign only).”
You must free 15 hostages from Hostage Rescue quests for this achievement. These can be found on the map by this icon here . They are unlocked on the map for completing nearby Outposts or Bell Towers. You must be as stealthy as possible otherwise they will start killing off the hostages!
-The Rarest Game:
“Complete 3 Kyrat Fashion Week quests (Campaign only).”
Complete 3 of the 11 Kyrat Fashion week quests for this achievement. They have this icon and are unlocked for liberating outposts. You must kill a rare animal with a specific weapon and then loot it.
-Gearhead:
“Complete 3 Kyrati Films: Racing or Kyrati Films: Survival activities (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must complete 3 of the 18 Kyrati film quests . There are two types, racing and survival. It doesn’t matter which combination of quests you complete. To unlock these on the map you need to complete nearby outposts, bell towers or fortresses.
-Trigger-Man:
“Complete 3 Assassination or Eye for an Eye quests (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must complete 3 of the 15 Assassination Quests . There are two types of quests, one where you must kill the target and loot them and one where you need to kill the target with a specific weapon and take a photo of their body. To unlock these on the map you need to complete nearby outposts, bell towers or fortresses.
-Well-Rounded:
“Complete any 6 Hunting quests (Supplies, Control, Survival) (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must complete 6 of the 14 Hunting Quests . They are split into 3 different categories but it doesn’t matter which combination you do. To unlock these on the map you need to complete nearby outposts, bell towers or fortresses. None should pose much trouble but Survival ones are the harder of the three. Just track them down on the map and get them done!
-End Transmission:
“Liberate 8 Bell Towers (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must liberate 8 Bell Towers . These reveal the map and show locations to you and although there are 17 in the game and only 8 required for the achievement, I couldn’t imagine 100%ing the game without doing all of them personally! Should come naturally.
Combat & Tool Achievements
-Misdirection:
“Distract 15 enemies with rocks (Campaign only).”
Oddly, a very annoying achievement – distracting 15 enemies with throw rocks (‘T’ key by default) should be easy right? But, to get the distractions to track you MUST wait for the enemy to get back to their original position and only use one rock per enemy otherwise they will get too suspicious. You can replay outpost if needed.
-Flame On!:
“Kill 50 enemies with fire (Campaign only).”
For this achievement, you must burn 50 enemies to death. You have three arsenal weapons that will be able to progress this achievement, that being the flamethrower, fire arrows, and molotovs. The flamethrower is unlocked during the story. Ammo can be bought from the outpost stores.
Simply use these weapons in your loadout and get as many kills while playing as possible. You can replay outposts to aid with finding enemies easily.
-Tusker:
“Kill 30 enemies with an elephant (Campaign only).”
Firstly, for this achievement you will need the skill “Elephant Rider” which costs two skill points. The best way to get this achievement by farming is replaying the “Shanath Breeders Outpost” as there is an elephant pen at the outpost. Ride the elephant and kill as many enemies as possible and then rinse and repeat.
-Reign Of Death:
“Kill 30 enemies with Mortar rounds (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must use a mortar emplacement to kill 30 enemies. Mortars can be found at outposts or defended areas and are not a weapon you can equip as they are stationary. The “Pranijagat School Outpost” is good to farm this achievement (through outpost replay if needed). This is the same outpost recommended for “Two Birds” achievement.
-From A Distance:
“Kill a target from 60m or more with an arrow or bolt (Campaign only).”
For this achievement, you need to kill someone with a bow from more than 60m away. It is highly recommended to purchase the ‘Recurve Bow’ and ‘Marksman Sight’ attachment for a total of 84,000 Rupees. After this try and find an enemy and retreat far away from them and pick them off for the achievement. Custom markers on the map can indicate distance.
-Quad Kill:
“Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with a single explosion (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must kill 4 enemies with one explosion. The RPG can work quite well, especially if you set off an outpost alarm (with replay if needed) and shooting a reinforcement vehicle which has 4 enemies in it. Shouldn’t be too challenging.
-Two Birds:
“Using a sniper rifle, kill 2 targets with a single shot (Campaign only).”
You need to kill 2 enemies with 1 sniper shot for this achievement. The easiest place to get this achievement is at the “Pranijagat School Outpost” (through outpost replay if needed). Approach from the south and you will see a small building you can climb up. Climb onto this building and you will see two enemies standing next to each other. Line up a headshot and should be all good. This video by HarryNinetyFour will illustrate this method.

-The Sky is Falling:
“Perform a takedown from a Buzzer (Campaign only).”
For this achievement, you need to get a vehicle takedown from a buzzer, NOT a death from above takedown. The “Vehicle Takedown” skill can be bought for 2 skill points after you to win a race to unlock it. This skill is also needed for the “Changing Lanes” co-op achievement.
Find a buzzer (mini-helicopter thing). One can be found at the airport, next to the control centre. Drive the buzzer on the left hand side of an enemy vehicle and perform the takedown action.
Note: If you have the Hurk DLC, in one of the missions you have to perform a Buzzer takedown as part of the mission.
-Roadkill:
“Run over 25 people (Campaign only).”
Simply get in a vehicle and find 25 enemies to run over (they have to die). Random Karma events will occur and these are often good places to get vehicle kills. Un-captured Outposts and Towers also work if you have any left to get.
-Drive-By:
“Kill 25 enemies while shooting and driving (Campaign only).”
Same as “Roadkill”, drive a vehicle around and while driving use your sidearm weapon to shoot and kill enemies until you have killed 25 like this. You may get this by naturally playing the story.
-Like A Bird:
“Fly 5000m total in the Wingsuit (Campaign only).”
You will rack up some distance with the Wingsuit doing other achievements and quests. If you need to grind distance the cliff by the Ghale Homestead is a good place to gain some distance.
-Shutterbug:
“Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Campaign only).”
The camera can be equipped with ‘Z’ key by default. Use this camera to hover over 25 enemies to tag them for the achievement. Should come naturally.
Skills & Karma Achievements
-Quick Learner:
“Learn 10 skills (Campaign only).”
-Fully Loaded:
“Learn all skills (Campaign only).”
To earn these achievements you must unlock 10 and all skills respectively. There are 48 skills in total split across the elephant and tiger categories. You earn 1 skill point every 2000XP you earn – getting XP from pretty much anything you do in the game.
Some skills on the elephant track have levels to them – you must max these four skills out. They are as follows: ‘Karma Boosts’, ‘Focus Syringe – Duration Boosts’, ‘Healing Syringe – Duration Boosts’, ‘Hunting Syringe – Duration Boosts’.
-The Good Fight:
“Reach Karma Level 2, and purchase any Guns For Hire upgrade (Campaign only).”
Karma goes up to level 8 but only level 2 is required for this achievement. You get Karma for completing random Karma events, collecting Mani Wheels, killing animals without using bullets or explosives and as various collectable rewards. Killing civilians and resistance fighters will lower your Karma.
As for purchasing the Guns for Hire upgrade, these can be bought from any shop under ‘Items’. The cheapest one is 50,000 Rupees.
Note you need level 4 Karma to unlock a Skill required for “Fully Loaded” Achievement.
Collectible Achievements
-Exorcist:
“Remove or destroy 15 Masks of Yalung (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must find 15 of the 55 Yalung masks dotted around the open world and destroy them. They look like demon/devil faces. You can purchase maps from vendors that will place their icons on the map for you to track down.
-Rewriting History:
“Remove 30 Propaganda Posters (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must remove 30 of the 150 propaganda posters . These are colourful posters you can find around the open world, usually on buildings. Just walk up to the poster to receive a prompt to remove it. Locations can be seen on the map after purchasing the ‘Item’ maps from a vendor (like with Mani Wheels and Lost letters).
-Caretaker Of Memory:
“Find 10 Lost Letters (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must collect 10 of the 20 Lost Letter collectibles. These (like posters & Mani Wheels) are marked on the map after purchasing the ‘Item’ maps from vendors.
-Right Tributes:
“Spin 10 Mani Wheels (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you must find and interact with 10 of the 40 Mani wheels . These (like posters & lost letters) are marked on the map after purchasing the ‘Item’ maps from vendors. They are large bronze wheels that look not disimilar to bells.
-Well Read:
“Read 10 notes (Campaign only).”
Notes are found all over the game. Although not strictly a collectible. You must just read 10 for this achievement, this should be very easy and natural.
Crafting & Purchase/Store Achievements
-Fixer-Upper:
“Purchase 3 items for the Ghale Homestead (Campaign only).”
The Ghale Homestead is a base of operations you unlock in the main story. You can purchase mostly cosmetic changes to the Homestead and you need to purchase 3 of these. They are pricey so might be best to get other purchases out of the way first. They are as follows:
- Trading Post, 50,000 (works as a vendor!)
- Garden, 225,000 (provides plants that reset with fast travel!)
- Buzzer, 300,000 (useful!)
- Exterior Upgrade, 75,000
- Interior Upgrade, 75,000
- Moonshine Kit, 93,750
- Interior Lighting, 112:500
- Tree Decorations, 131,250
- Pinfold, 150,000
- Water Faucet, 25,000
- Shrine, 375,000
-Dr. Feelgood:
“Craft 15 syringes (Campaign only).”
For this achievement you need to craft 15 of any type or combination of different syringes. Syringes are crafted using plant materials which can be picked up while exploring the open world.
Crafting syringes is very beneficial to many encounters in the game be it exploring, hunting or combat so I recommend making good use of this mechanic and then you will never need to worry about earning it.
-Tricked Out:
“Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment (Campaign only).”
Crafting upgrades for equipment requires animal hides/skins. To obtain these you must hunt the wildlife in the open world and loot them. There are plenty of upgrades to choose from so pick ones that suit your playstyle and 5 will come naturally with a bit of hunting. Some of these are incredibly useful for progression including extra weapon holsters and increased ammo capacity etc.
-Custom-Fitted:
“Buy all attachments and paint schemes for a single weapon (Campaign only).”
For a single weapon you need to buy all attachments and paint jobs from an outpost store to unlock this achievement. The cheapest weapon is the AK-47 which has no attachments and only 6 paint schemes totalling 200,000 Rupees.
-Make It Rain:
“Spend 500,000 rupees total at Trading Posts (Campaign only).”
You will no doubt get this achievement naturally. You get a lot of Rupee currency while playing, sometimes upwards of 30,000 from one mission. Just keep buying weapons and ammo while playing naturally.
Co-op Achievements
-Brother In Arms:
“Liberate 1 Outpost playing as Hurk (Campaign Co-op only).”
Play in co-op campaign as the player who is currently NOT the host to play as Hurk. While playing co-op with someone else as host, liberate an outpost to unlock this achievement. You can replay outposts if needed.
-Changing Lanes:
“Perform a Vehicle Takedown from the passenger seat of a vehicle (Campaign Co-op only).”
To obtain this achievement, you must play co-op campaign. Find a car and get into the side seat and let your co-op partner drive the vehicle and then find an enemy vehicle.
Drive alongside the enemy vehicle (on the left side) and try to get the front doors of both cars inline. This should bring up a takedown prompt for the co-op player in the passenger seat – performing this takedown will unlock the achievement.
The “Vehicle Takedown” skill can be bought for 2 skill points after you to win a race to unlock it. This skill is also needed for the “The Sky is Falling” co-op achievement.
Map Browser Achievement
-Community Surprise:
“Play a Top Rated map in the Map Browser (Map Browser only).”
You can do this solo! Choose ‘Map Browser’ on the main menu and select “Top Rated” and play any map. Let an enemy kill you or suicide to fail the map and the achievement will unlock, you don’t need to succeed!
Multiplayer Achievement
-Renaissance Man:
“Finish a public match of each game type in the Battles of Kyrat game mode (Battles of Kyrat only).”
BOOOOO. Who likes multiplayer achievements in primarily singleplayer titles?
Oh well. To earn this achievement you must play a PUBLIC match of each of the three game modes. They are Outpost, Demon Mask and Propaganda. The multiplayer is called “Battles of Kyrat” on the main menu.
Each match is about 20 minutes so if boosting (which you will be as multiplayer is dead) it will take about 1 hour to earn. You need 3 players a side so 6 total.
Valley of the Yeti’s DLC Achievements
-Builder:
“Complete One Relay Station Upgrade Quest (Valley Of The Yetis, Single Player Only).”
-Master Builder:
“Complete All Relay Station Upgrade Quests (Valley Of The Yetis, Single Player Only).”
Relay Station upgrades are available from completing side quests which are unlocked after completing the mission “First Night”. They have an exclamation point icon on the map.
They award you with better defences for night missions so they are worth doing amongst the story anyway. You need to complete all 9 netting you two achievements.
-Spiritual Hunter:
“Kill A Yeti (Valley Of The Yetis, Single Player Only).”
-Master of the Awakened:
“Kill 5 Yetis (Valley Of The Yetis, Single Player Only).”
For these achievements you must kill 1 and 5 Yeti’s respectively. They are tough but explosives and LMGs are good at taking them down. After taking enough damage they will stagger and you can either finish them with a takedown or keep attacking them. You will kill most during the DLC story.
-Home Sweet Home:
“Occupy The Relay Station (Valley Of The Yetis).”
-Night Survivor:
“Defend The Relay Station And Survive The First Night (Valley Of The Yetis).”
-Awakened!:
“Complete The Valley Of The Yetis Campaign (Valley Of The Yetis).”
