Did you know you can drown NPCs in the shimmer pool to transform their looks? This feature is often overlooked and I’m here to bring awareness to it
How to transform your NPCs with shimmer pool
Steps:
- First, create housing complex in the shimmer biome. The shimmer biome can be found underground of the beach biome that aligns with jungle biome.
- Once you have placed your NPCs, use the fly meal or rotten egg to knockback your NPCs until they enter the shimmer pool. The fly meal weapon can be obtained by using this recipe while the rotten egg is a Halloween-exclusive item obtainable from goodie bags or punching a tree.
- After they have transformed, put them back to their designated housing complex!
Cool transformations
Now let’s take a look at the new townspeople!
- Angler
I think this is one of the most unexpected hidden lore the game has. I mean who would have thought that the ever-so-demanding little brat who thinks about fishes all day was/could be this creature? - Dryad
I’m aware that she is a collab character from different game but whatever lore she has, this corrupted redesign of hers is badass. I wonder if her blessing animations change too… - Golfer
The golfer man turned into this beaver-like animan (animal-man). I was surprised when i knew this, wondering what kind of life this man.. or animan had before. - Mechanic
Again with the unexpected, who would have known that the person we immediately try to look for once we enter the dungeon would be goblin. At least this one is fair and doesn’t try to scam us - Old Man
Looks clean and healthy. It appears skeletron’s influence hasn’t reached him all that bad. Although transmuting this guy would be nearly impossible and pointless (but doable) as there is no way you can bring him all the way down to the shimmer pool (dungeon is opposite to jungle, and even more so to shimmer biome) and obtaining a bottomless shimmer bucket requires the drop of Moon Lord aka (final boss). - Party Girl
I fw her hair! - Pirate
Definitely one of my favorite redesigns. Ghost drip is rad and you thinking he was a ghost once? - Skeleton Merchant
Still has his flesh intact! This man is also gonna be quite tough to transmute for it is only possible to bring the shimmer water to him with the bottomless shimmer bucket (post-Moon Lord). Though, I’m not sure if the effect stays on his next visits or it’s a one time thing ─ someone needs to check it out - Stylist
In her goth era. what a baddie - Tax Collector
The crown and drip is lowkey fire. Would like him more had he change the attitude but hey, can’t say no to free golds. - Travelling Merchant
Can’t go wrong with that prince cut and dynasty fit. Definitely a good change of pace. - Wizard
