A guide to the achievements in Chroma Zero, including hidden achievements
Intro
Progression Achievements
Reset
“Deep breath, try again“
This will be the first achievement you obtain in the game.
You get this by using Restart for the first time. True, you need to disrupt the balance in order to do so, but… It’s always worth pushing a big glowing button, right?
Hidden Achievement – T____ C____
“One for each color“
During a normal playthrough, a mistake would be made. Find the true clues which will help to undo the mistake, and this achievement will pop.
To get this Achievement, you need to be in the Dark Phase of the game. Once you are there, you’ll need to use Destroy on the plinth below the Black Obelisk – the one which Zero jokes about hiding a Master Sword under – then Destroy the Tri-Color Gate that’s below it, to get access to a button that turns on the Green light in the Magenta Tower, turning it White. Then, get into the now-White Tower without Destroying it – one way to do so is to have the Red Ring oriented so that the water side is at the bottom after mixing a Warp on the opposite face to White, then using the White Warp Box by the Energy Counters to get on top of the Green Ring while the White Tower is on top
Hidden Achievement – [REDACTED]
[REDACTED]
Talk to Zero after the credits have rolled.
All you need to do is to complete the game. If you have the above achievement, you have the clues needed to learn how to beat the game.
Exploration Achievements
Weeeeeeee!!!
“Ride the waterslide, but keep the camera dry”
The Cyan Temple has what you need.
Go to the Cyan Temple and slide down a waterslide
Hidden Achievement – M___ <3
“You’re a kitty!”
Yes, you can pet the cat. You only need to pet one of the three cats in the game to unlock this.
Pet one of the cats by interacting with them. The easiest one to find is in the Cyan Temple
Hidden Achievement – I__
“You won(ish) a $5 bet”
Once you know how to use a certain power, you might be able to win a bet against Zero.
Destroy the Red Ring, then in the Cyan Temple, turn the rings which were black red using Create, then talk to the Zero in them
Hidden Achievement – R_______ 9
[REDACTED]
The reminder board may be hiding something that only can be seen after the credits roll…
Complete the game, then fly to the other side of the reminder board and learn the cheat code to toggle gravity, then use it.
Speedrun Achievements
Hidden Achievement – O______ O_ T___
“Finish the game within 5 minutes from a new save file (Speedrun timer must be enabled)“
This is good practice for if you want to get into any% speedrunning for this game. 5 minutes is a decent time even for a casual player once you know what you need to do. However, I will note the following:
- The speedrun timer MUST be enabled during the entire run. If it is disabled at any time during the run (including at the start) then the timer will be set to 00:00:00, and the achievement won’t pop.
- You can’t go back to the main menu and then start with Create and Destroy already unlocked at the start of the run. Not only does this speed up the entry cutscreen to 16s (which would be a dead giveaway that the run didn’t start from a fresh file if you were to submit a recording of it), but the achievement won’t pop.
- While you won’t have the Reminders on the board, the knowledge they would give still applies.
For a casual player, I would recommend the following steps. This is not the optimum route, but it has the least platforming.
Also, this is HEAVY SPOILERS, so don’t read them until you’ve beaten the game!
A Red -> Cyan Route to complete the game under 5 minutes:
- During the opening cutscreen, you can use the commands to unlock Create and Destroy without needing the reminders.
- Rotate White at least 4 times, but I’d recommend 8 to get enough Energy for what you need to do.
- Destroy the lower black steps so that you can get down – because the White Warp Box on the starting platform doesn’t appear until after you talk to the first Zero (and that would cost you precious time)
- Use Destroy to get into the three coloured boxes on the Red Ring, and then Create 4 white boxes in each.
- Rotate White twice, then Green twice and Blue four times, so that the rings would be oriented so the Blue Ring has the Green Warp on the bottom, the Green Ring has the Cyan Temple on the bottom, and the Red Ring has the spheres with a Green Warp on the bottom
- Use the Green Warp to get to the Blue Ring, then Create a White Warp box from the Blue Warp there.
- Drop down to the Cyan Temple. Try to land on the water plane where Zero is. Then, remove the water from the Cyan temple from top to bottom. Do note that you can hold down White after charging up on the top water to save time.
- Once you have removed all the water, head back to the rotation button. If you’ve done things right, during this part you should get a cutscreen showing the Fragment inside the central Black Obelisk being exposed and restored.
- Rotate White two more times, then take the White Warp to the Mixed Warp you made earlier.
- Destroy the Mixed Warp, but aim down and hold any color to Create a platform below you.
- Finally, charge White while aiming at the Light Gate, and once you’re fully charged, Interact with it.
If the speedrun timer is under 5 minutes when you start to see the credits, you’ve gotten the achievement!
