Relatively spoiler-free tips, hints and solutions to the Demon Masquerade.
Author’s Note
If you only want the answers without the solutions, they are all listed at the end of this guide.
Game Controls
- You can left-click and drag documents around.
- You can right-click a document to examine it more closely.
- Click outside a document to stop examining it.
- When examining a document more closely, you can make notes and marks in red with your pen by left-clicking and dragging the mouse on the document.
- You can undo the last marking by clicking the undo button in the bottom right corner.
- You can erase all markings on a document by right-clicking on it when examining it closely.
- Names you underline in a document with your pen are added to a suspect list you can pick from later when you are presenting your solution(s).
- Pressing “Z” will let you zoom in and out of the pin board you currently have selected.
- Clicking on the edges of the screen will move you back to the bigger scene when looking at a specific area of the room.
General Gameplay Tips
- Remember to ask yourself the important questions: Who?, What?, Where?, When? and How?
- Take the time to read through all the evidence and documents available to you, even if it doesn’t seem immediately relevant.
- If something looks suspicious, it probably is.
- If something look obvious, try to prove it.
- If something doesn’t make sense by itself, look for other pieces of evidence that might be related.
- If other people are present, try talking to them, they might let something important slip during a conversation.
- Sometimes you do really just need to sleep on it.
Chapter 0 – The Tutorial (part 1)
Hint: You can left-click and drag elements on screen.
Solution: It’s an owl, as pictured on the puzzle box.
If you’re having trouble finding the last piece, remember you can move the box.
Chapter 1 – The Tutorial (part 2)
- You can click on the various puzzles in the room to view short comics of them getting scrambled then solved.
- You can sleep to move time forward.
Hints:
- You can right-click on elements on screen to examine them more closely.
- You can go back to the room view by left-clicking on the edges of the screen.
Solution:
Question 1: Tread on Fred
Question 2: 8
Question 3: Any answer is valid.
Notes:
- This is the first puzzle where you have to piece evidence together with red thread.
- Once you’ve looked at the evidence, talk with Dr. Aleo to propose your solution.
- Left-click on a piece of evidence to link it with red thread. Once everything is linked, click on the bottom right card with your suspect name on it.
- If you make a mistake, you can right-click the evidence to remove the thread.
Clues:
- Mugshot and fingerprints of the three suspects
- Photo of the frame of the stolen painting
- Article about the theft
Hint: What do we have as evidence that’s unique to a single individual?
Solution: By comparing the fingerprints, you will find that Stephanie Hopper’s second fingerprint matches the one on the frame.
Proof: Link the photo of the frame with the fingerprint and Stephanie’s fingerprint samples
Chapter 2 – The Tutorial (part 3)
Note: Welcome to Lambda’s room. The bulk of the rest of the game will take place in this room, so I’ve included a short overview of what you can interact with in the room.
- Books and documents you’ve gained access to will be placed here as the story progresses.
- You can click on books or documents on your bookshelves to read them at any time.
- Documents and evidence will be pinned here for you to consult. The evidence will automatically be placed into the pinboard it’s relevant to.
- If a piece of evidence is relevant to multiple ongoing cases, a copy will automatically be placed in all those cases’ pinboards.
- Organize documents in whatever manner helps you make sense of them. (I personally found it useful to create a timeline of evidence, but grouping similar evidence together may also help highlight similarities or differences you hadn’t noticed before.)
- When moving an item, the shadow on the pinboard tells you exactly where it will be when pinned back on the board, which is handy if you like things organized in a specific way or to line up fragmented evidence properly.
- You can speak with visitors here to obtain clues, go over information they’ve mentioned, or propose solutions to your current case(s).
- While proposing a solution, the order in which you link the red thread does not affect the solution. So long as the relevant evidence is linked the game will accept it.
- When presenting evidence, if you’re close to a solution but missing a clue that’s not yet available to you, the game will likely tell you via dialogue. The game will also tell you if the solution is incorrect.
- You can click on the calendar at any time to check the in-game date.
- You cannot jump to a past or future date, the game progresses in a linear manner.
- Clicking on the bed gives you the option to sleep until the next day.
- Time passing may reveal new evidence you need to deduce or prove something.
Notes:
- You can talk with Agent Dolan to ask about the crime and the suspects, and propose a solution to the case.

- Talking to Biblios for advice every day can yield new insights in your cases.

Chapter 11 (Part 3) – The Challenge
Notes:
- You can speak with each participant for new dialogue or insights into their behavious, but this is optional.
- When you are ready to guess the Adjudicator’s name, you can speak with them directly.
The clues this time are a variety of documents you’ve seen before including:
- Academania Book Club Flyer
- History’s Greatest Quotes
- Hillford Happenings ‘zine
- The Scion’s Essay Paper
- The Encyclopedia Daemonica
- Ed Dolan’s FBI ID card
- Business card for Dr. Elena Dao
- Hillford General Hospital Report
- FBI redacted AND unredacted documents on the Athena Institute
- Business card for Leon Erdada Modeling Agency
- The Labourer’s schedule for September 9

Hints:
The Adjudicator’s daemon was named and shown in the comic.
What can this particular daemon do?
When did the Masquerade start?
Who would have been alive to Adjudicate the first Masquerade?
Pathos, daemon of Tragedy
In the Enclyclopedia Daemonica, this daemon has the ability to shapeshift to create tragic situations and manipulate others, and all their personas have names that are anagrams.
In the last paragraph, we learn the shapeshifted form’s aliases have no relation to their real name.
Looking at the evidence, we can rule out these names, as they are all anagrams:
- Eda R. Roland
- Andrea Dole
- Earl Donead
- Ed Rae Dolan
- Dr. Elena Dao
- Dr. Edna Aleo
- Leon Erdada
- Dane Darelo
In the comic, we learned the Adjudicator has been in charge of the Masquerade for the last 2000 years.
In the Annexes of the Enclyclopedia Daemonica, the Masquerade is said to have started in 4th century BCE.
Looking at the book of History’s greatest Quotes, only a handful of the quotes are from people alive in the BC era.
Only one is from 4th century BCE
The Adjudicator’s name is Aristotle
Make your guess, and enjoy the conclusion!
