“holocure and chill” or somethinganyways, here’s my marine build! One half for being able to play whilst not paying as much attention, the other half for being greedy! (…even despite the nerf.)
Introduction/Example Builds
Snzz Variant: Lets you stand still pretty consistently. More damage output, more eating damage. Can be used as a couch potato build in earlier stages.
Greed Variant: Good ol’ holocoin printer. Wouldn’t recommend for stages beyond Stage 2 Hard, but I also just suck at videogames.
Weapons, Items, Stamps, and Stat Priority
- Main Weapon (Cutlass & Pistol)
Use Weapon Limit from the shop to make sure you aren’t getting other weapons in the level-up rotation!
- Catch Net if you don’t plan to move much, Invincibility Dash if you do.
- Breastplate
- Headphones / Plushie
- GWS Pill / Promise Tiara
- Beetle / Super Chatto Time!
- Any healing item of your choice honestly
- Hope Soda / Uber Sheep / Halu
- Solo Stamp / Haste Up Stamp
- Lifesteal Stamp / Greed Stamp
- Rock Hard Stamp / Bomb Stamp
- Crit > Haste > Attack > Health > Pickup Range > Speed
Explanation
I noticed as soon as I played her for the first time that her kit leans into face-tanking for damage output, with her Lust and Dangerous Marine Smell skills leaning towards that. The big issue with her kit is that it’s a little lackluster on damage output without help. This build focuses on utilizing the Lust gauge as much as possible via eating big damage (so that you can go for a more couch potato-type run) and outputting it too. Her special is nice for getting enemies away from you with the amount of knockback it has.
Her main weapon Cutlass & Pistol is the following (When maxed out):
- Cutlass & Pistol: Swings an anchor in the front while shooting a pistol at the nearest target 3 times.
Her skills are as follows (When maxed out):
- Lust: Gain a Lust Gauge. The gauge increases slowly near enemies, or when hit. At max gauge, Marine reaches her climax, healing 30% HP and deals 500% damage to all nearby targets. (is steam going to allow this?)
- Dangerous Marine Smell: If a target is within 120px for more than 1 seconds, they gain a debuff that reduces DEF and SPD by 20%. After 3 seconds, target takes 150% damage per second.
- Pirate Captain: When collecting HoloCoins, increase Crit by 2% for 5 seconds, up to 20%. Targets hit by skills have a 20% chance to drop additional HoloCoins.
Breastplate, Headphones/Plushie, Membership, and the healing item of your choice are all for the purpose of keeping you alive. The damage from both membership and Breastplate are also helpful for damage output, since Marine struggles a little with it.
Beetle and GWS Pill are there to buff Lust via boosting skill damage. GWS Pill’s crit buff is also helpful for Pirate Captain. If you’re not replacing beetle with Super Chatto Time!, you could run Promise Tiara instead of GWS Pill for more haste, but remember that you’ll be missing out on more skill damage that GWS Pill provides.
You can insert Halu and Super Chatto Time! as needed for greed runs, but keep in mind that your damage output will be lower.
Extra Information
- Snzz Variant is meant to boost your defense and damage to where it can so that you can couch-potato at best and have a chill experience at least. Rock Hard Stamp would be a good choice if you think you’re not gonna be moving much, but if you have issues with standing still run Haste Up Stamp or Knockback Stamp.
- Greed Variant is the holocoin printer and thus comes the issue of Halu and the lack of haste and damage output Marine struggles with. If you’re having issues surviving, take Lifesteal Stamp instead of Bomb Stamp and see how that rolls. It probably won’t work well if you’re trying to completely couch potato it, so keep that in mind.
- Focus upgrading Lust first, Dangerous Marine Smell second, and Pirate Captain third.
- Stat priority can be flexible depending on what you need, I just really like having high crit chance and haste lol
- If you’re using it in a couch potato run, Catch Net can be good for yoinking extra holocoins, healing burgers, and exp. It’s also good for stunning enemies! Its range is a little weird, so you might have issues using it to get enemies that are directly on top of you off.
- If you don’t take Headphones, I’d recommend taking Knockback Stamp so that you can push things back.
- Items and stamps are free to be swapped around with what you’d prefer! This is just a reference, not something you need to swear by and die by if something else works better for you.
- As you can probably figure out, this build has lots of variability and situational things to keep in mind depending on the stage, since you likely can’t just eat 3 lightning bolts from stage 4 hard at once. It’s probably not gonna work out to try and fully couch potato any stage beyond stage 2 hard (and even then that might be pushing it) but if it does work, then…. yippee?
