Attention gamers! Are you facing crashes while playing ANONYMOUS || AGONY during the scenes with Eris and Milly on day 3 at night or at the end? Don’t worry, we have a solution for you! Keep reading to find out how to fix it.
The Bug & The Fix
On day 3, at night, when talking to Eris, it calls for file Audio/SE/[E&M #4] Eris_1.ogg within the game’s directory, but the file is named [E_M #4] Eris_1.ogg so it crashes when attemping to do so. Changing the file name manually from the underscore (_) to an ampersand (&) caused the conversation to begin as intended. However, this issue seems to affect the scene in its entirety, including her, Haze, and Milly’s subsequent lines. Changing the underscore to an ampersand in each audio file whose title begins “[E_M #4]” (Eris, Haze, and Milly’s) made the entire scene play correctly.
Something very similar happens when Gabriel comes over at the very end. All files in the Audio/SE/ folder beginning with “[G_H]” have to be edited to “[G&H]”.
Screenshots of the edited files attached, highlighted.
All Additional Bugs I Found (No Fixes)
On day 3, when attempting to use FreeFlow to speak to Fiona, the first conversation where she sends you a link to the wolf art she uses as a profile pic works fine. Attemping to contact her again, however, leads to the game freezing with no error message. You can see the UI of FreeFlow somewhat, but with all the names missing.
A few times during day 1 and 2’s night, going to certain areas would swap it to daytime, giving access to conversations I had previously had. Moving to some areas would then swap it back to night. I was not able to make this occur consistently, so I can only say it can happen sometimes. The areas that seemed to trigger it most often was the street the church is on, and the junkyard with the dogs. Interestingly, the street the church is on still had the lit up windows, implying it is night, but was otherwise light out. Screenshot below.
Actually just after taking this screenshot, I went to the church and had an issue I note below, a palette swap, as you can see the pews now are shelves with vials like those found at the drug dealer’s den.
Shortly after, going to the junkyard, something similar occurred. I was not able to leave the patch of leaves with red flowers you can see Haze standing on, and so could not leave and had to reset.
These were all on day 3’s night. On that note, I did once get sent from day 2’s night to day 1’s day. I was able to reproduce this on day 3’s night as well. Entering the area where the drug dealer’s den is from the East, coming from the jewelry store, caused this transition. Screenshot below – as you can see, the cop from day 1 is present. Also, the guy from ZebraTech spawned here twice for some reason.
Either way, though, entering this area from the North does not cause the transition to day 1, it instead displays the map at night time as intended. After triggering this, though, the game continued to think I was on day 1’s day, in the following screenshot it is day 3’s night and I can find Lili on the bench here as she was on day 1.
I was even able to trigger this scene, but with Milli and Eris absent, screenshot below. Taking the bus to the apartment complex and the street the bar is on reset it to night and I was able to progress as usual. Eris later appeared when she pulled out her sword.
The quest to sneak into the drug dealer’s den and recover their drugs mostly worked, but the sixth vial would not properly update the quest’s status. I have the individual line for having completed the quest and received a reward, but it still shows as incomplete with the objective to recover that sixth vial incomplete. I saw someone else mention this, but thought I might as well include it! Doesn’t affect playability as far as I could tell, at least.
Occasionally, and particularly at night, certain scenes would seem to have their palettes swapped with more fantastical sprites. I noticed this most frequently in the apartments and art gallery. In addition, it happened consistently in the alleyway to the West of ZebraTech, screenshot of that below.
Speaking of that alley, what’s the code to that door? Anyone figure it out? I’m debating trying each possibility but it’s 5 digits.
On day 2 during the day, the palette swapping had one particular effect. When going to the alley to the East of Zebratech, the smaller one further North without a connection to the sewer, the tile the exit is on had collision and I could not enter it. This meant I was stuck in the alley and had to quit out and reload.
Similarly, there was some random weird collision that would change from time to time. Below is a screenshot of day 3, night, where I was able to walk into this wall.
This seemed to happen most often with windows at night, maybe the dimmed versions of some windows lack collision? Something similar happened near the guy who tells you about an underage sex worker. Screenshot of that below.
Speaking of that area, one day, I believe it was day 2 but I don’t recall whether it was day or night, there was an item on the lawn to the West, but collision prevents you from entering so I was unable to interact with it.
Also, when transitioning screens, on day 3 during the day there was green text that would have the location’s name and the day, e.g. Alley #2 [Day #3]. Frequently, the day would be cut off. At no other time did this text come up.
