Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy: Achievement & Progression Guide – Trials & Tribulations

Hello all! Lonnie here with a guide on achievements and progression for AA:T&T!

This will be my first ever guide on Steam, but I’ve posted small guides on other social media in regards to this entire series of games. I’ve already played all of the AA games on their native devices (and I emulated the ones that never made it overseas before the Great Capcom Collection Crusade) and I’ve played them all A LOT. With the entire series basically coming to Steam, that means lots of achievements and, for people like me who have already played the OG games, a lot of revisiting and achievement hunting!

This guide is here for those who want to speedrun the game and catch any missed achievements or for those who are playing for the first time (first time ever or first time in years since the OG releases) and got stuck on something and don’t want to spoiler themselves looking at guides.

Big shout out to Rezareth who used this format of AA guides that are both super helpful and spoiler-free! I will be using their format for every AA guide I create. (I intend to do both trilogy collections, TGAA, and AAI when it releases) From what I saw, Rezareth did not do a guide on AA:T&T so I will making a guide ONLY for T&T and onward. However, if they do ever make their own guide for T&T and they wish for me to remove my guide, I will do so at their request.

With all of that out of the way, let’s get on to the guide itself!

Clear Episode 1

We’re taken back in time 5 years to Mia Fey’s second trial (pink sweater art my beloved) Since this is a tutorial case against our usual Payne in the butt, it hasn’t got many parts to it and is considered “simple”. Even the achievement is simple! But, in case you get stuck or just want to zoom through it, I’ve laid out the optimal solution order! Remember to tap the spoiler box (which looks like this hello!) for the solution!

Clear Episode 2

The fourth ladder you need for this achievement (the first 2 are in PW:AA and the third is in PW:AA – JFA) is in Basement Warehouse, reachable during Part 1.

There are multiple things you need to examine in order to unlock this achievement.

1. At DeMasque’s Hideout, examine the upside down fishbowl in the back of the room, reachable from Part 1
2-4. At KB Security, Security Room, examine the big poster on the wall to the left, the pink bag with cherries, Larry’s jacket and the seat to the bottom right of the screen, reachable during Part 3.
(I’ve seen mixed messages about this achievement. If the achievement does not pop after examining the above items, examine everything else in the security office and it should pop for you from there!)

Just to be clear, my guides will ONLY follow the most concise path to completing the story as quickly as possible. As such, I won’t typically touch upon things like easter eggs or flavor text if it doesn’t specifically aid in an achievement or furthering progress. (though sometimes I’ll mention ones I personally enjoyed or find silly) If this is your first time playing these games, I recommend examining everything and presenting whatever you want to people on Investigation days (including your trusty badge!)
Part of Ace Attorney’s charm is its diverse cast of characters and the dialogue they have towards each other and the world around them. Stop and smell the roses every once in a while!

Gameplay Tips – Hitting the right mouse button acts the same as hitting the Backspace key. Use that to quickly close menus!
Holding the left mouse button allows you to skip text! Use that if you’re trying to zoom through dialogue!

This case is special because it technically has two trials in one, all with the same defendant but different crimes. The first trial plays like a slightly harder tutorial, before curve-balling you into the second trial. Honestly, this is one of the more solid cases in the original trilogy and I enjoyed playing it so much! Buckle in, this is gonna be a wild ride!

During Violetta’s Psyche-Lock session, present the wrong evidence on the first choice, obtainable during Part 3.

Probably one of, if not the, most annoying achievement in this game. I saw a lot of different ways to do this but I condensed the route as efficiently as possible to pretty much ensure you don’t need to back-step (however just from the nature of this achievement I recommend making a new save slot after EVERY point and covering your bases in Part 3)

Note: I will try to make this as spoiler-free as possible but the very nature of this achievement makes that kinda hard. If you DO NOT want to be spoilered at ALL, go to the next section and simply play through the game normally. I will post reminders at EVERY part where this achievement is relevant in the Solutions guide no matter what, so you will get the info no matter which way you read it.

Part 1
Upon talking to Armstrong for the first time, do the following:

After presenting Maggey’s profile, you will talk to him again about available topics. Choose Maggey’s motive and then select it again after it becomes psyche-locked.

After breaking the psyche-lock at Vitamin Square, return to Trés Bien and talk to Armstrong again. Present the Scooter and Victor’s Note to him.

While trying to break Armstrong’s psyche-lock, choose the wrong options for every question. You will receive a penalty for each wrong answer, so if you’re worried make sure to fall back on your save!

Part 3
Upon talking to Armstrong again, present Maggey’s profile

If you haven’t been keeping track or are unsure if you got all the words up to this point, present all evidence and profiles to Armstrong. This should clear up any loose ends!

Part 4-1 – Trial
During the “At Trés Bien” cross-examination – Press on every statement

On statement 2, choose How many minutes after? first (the other option changes the statement and advances the story, so DO NOT select this first or you will lock yourself out of the achievement!)

The achievement should pop after you do ALL of these steps and finish the third cross-examination. If it doesn’t, you probably missed something and will need to go back. If you kept separate saves, that will make your life way easier. If not, that’s fine, I believe some people said that you don’t need to get all of the words in one play through, BUT it’s easier that way if you’re trying to get the Clear Episode achievement at the same time.

Clear all of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

In Part 1-2 – Investigation while at the Main Gate, present your Attorney’s Badge to Larry. During the same part at the Heavenly Hall, examine the flags strung up around the cabin.

The final ladder you need for this achievement is located in the Courtyard during Part 3-2 – Investigation. Examine it to complete the achievement!

I consider this the longest and most lore intertwining case of the original trilogy. I loved this case so much when I first played it, and the anime adaption was super nostalgic for me. The main thing pushing me along throughout this guide and game play was getting the chance to play this case again. I hope you enjoy this case as much as I do!

I wrote this guide as I was playing the game, so if there are any mistakes or info that seems unclear, please let me know! I tried to proofread it as much as possible so I’m pretty confident its fine but… we’ll see I guess ^^;;

Ace Attorney is one of the first games I ever played on the Gameboy, and it holds a special place in my heart. I love this series, and I don’t think that’ll ever stop for as long as I live. The series, while silly and nonsensical, is a beautiful and heart-wrenching tale of love, friendship, death, and the consequences of your actions. And in my opinion, Trials & Tribulations emulates that perfectly. It’s my favorite game in the original trilogy, and the 5th episode is one of my all-time favorite cases in the entire series. Things like Feenie and Dollie’s reconciliation, Godot’s self-reflection that came far too late, Mia telling Phoenix how proud she was of him after it all ends, and the story of Phoenix Wright the fledgling attorney coming to a close over a cup of hot coffee. . . It’s all just so wonderful.

I’m happy that I get to share this guide with all of you. That I get to share this game with all of you. I’ll be doing the entire series eventually, so please stick with me just a bit longer. Our journey together with Phoenix and friends isn’t over just yet! As I said before, Trials & Tribulations is my favorite game in the original trilogy. The 5th case never fails to bring a tear to my eye, and by the end of the game, I think we’ve earned a good cry, don’t you think? The end is always the best time to let it all out.

After all, a lawyer only cries when it’s all over.
