Get ready to conquer the world of Cat Quest II with this powerful Mid to Late Game OP Build. By using the Gentlebros gear and spamming magic, you’ll be able to easily defeat the Infinity Tomb, complete side quests, and conquer the Dungeons. Keep reading to learn all the details of this simple yet effective build.
Intro/Prerequisites
- You need to have completed the Main Quest: The Final Shard
- Completed the Book of Water Walking Side Quests to unlock the Royal Art of water walking
- Be decently powerful
Keep in mind that I was gathering images on a New Game+ file, so the levels of gear and such may be off form your first play though.
Also,if you want to replace some of your Gentlebros gear with stronger gear, such as the Dark Old Master gear, the strategy will no longer work and will not be viable. Since it utilizes the MP reduction from the set, it can double, triple, or even quadruple the amount of MP required to cast spells. if you are going to replace ANY of your Gentlebros gear, I recommend dropping the build entirely as it is no longer worth it. That isn’t to say there isn’t better builds though, as the Dark Old Master build obliterates everything after you get it, so don’t feel like you are forced to use this build if better gear comes your way, just know that you can’t mix and match, you need the full set.
Now that that’s out of the way, I’ll tell you how to actually get the build.
Gathering Gentlebros Gear
The Gentle Suit:
The Architect:
And The Gentle Monocle:
These three items follow a similar path to obtaining them, as in, if you get the Monocle you must have gotten the Architect and Suit. To first obtain the suit, you must go to Founder’s Island II in Felingard and complete the four part Gentlebros questline.
You can get to Founders Island II by following the path of rocks and EXP from the small island off to the right of the very bottom on Felingard. AKA the island you get stranded on in the start.
The first three quests are fairly simple and are nothing but text, but the fourth is way more challenging. If requires you to enter a portal and fight four Gentlebros in “The Gentle Realm”. Three wield a sword and various magic, while one wields a magic weapon which shoots out four energy balls.
They are all Level 99 and are very fast, so it might take a lot of tries. I put my strategy to defeat them here to hopefully make it easier. First, I recommend trying to pick off the wand wielding foe, as they can one shot you if you aren’t careful and it may interfere with trying to take out the other three. After taking out the mage, you can move onto the other three. their most dangerous attack is ForceWoofer and it can easily take you out, so memorizing roughly how long it takes to activate is key. The arena has walls! They aren’t visible, so don’t get cornered!
Don’t worry if you’re only doing chip damage, you’ll get there eventually! Just keep trying!
After defeating The Gentlebros, they will award you with The Gentle Suit and the hidden key, which will allow you to get The Architect and the key to golden chests.
You can then head to the cave pictured above to get the Golden Key, as the door has been unlocked. Inside will be 3 Golden Mimics and the key. I recommend using a magic weapon to defeat the mimics, because you can stay farther away and still do damage. They also can one-shot you, so not getting hit is more important than a couple attacks.
After you defeat the Mimics, you can grab the key and exit the room. The key will unlock all Golden Chests and allow you to get the other two parts of the Gentlebros gear.
The first Golden Chest you see outside of the room will contain The Architect.
After getting that, you can run back to Founders Island II and unlock the golden chest there, which contains the final piece of gear you need, the Gentle Monocle.
Gathering Spells
- Freezepaw
- Manapaw
- Healpaw
Along with those, you can also utilize a couple other spells that make thing quicker and easier, though not required:
- Gravi-ruff
- Purrzerk
- Furry Shield
Though not required for this build, it is recommended that you level up your spells as much as possible. (Manapaw should still be MAX LEVEL no matter what! I’ll explain more in the next section.) All spells can be found in stones with the Kingsblood symbol on them, and will glow blue if they have not been collected yet. All of the locations of the relevant spells are listed below (except for Freezepaw and Healpaw, as both are acquired though the main story)
Manapaw is located off to the right of The Banished which is located at the top of the Barkara.
Gravi-ruff is located inside Tomb of the Follower off to the left of The Throne Of Lupus.
Purrzerk is located in Whisk Cove near the eastern Kingsmarker and Whiskerest.
Furry Shield is located in Cave Grotto at the very bottom of Felingard.
How To Utilize
This build works by taking advantage of the MP reduction ability that the Gentlebros gear has. In total, with the full set, you get a -4MP cost for all spells. Normally, Freezepaw and Manapaw costs 5MP to use, but with the -4MP reduction, it costs only one. This means you can basically spam spells until, you run out of MP. Depending on how many spells you have collected, your max mana will increase. This is why I recommend getting as many spells as possible so you have as much mana as possible. The more mana, the more DPS, and the quicker you clear out enemies.
- Freezepaw keeps the enemy frozen, which reduces the speed they attack, which allows you to focus more on button mashing rather than dodging. Even at Level 5-7 it has fairly good damage and can destroy pretty much anything with enough spam and Manapaws for MP refills. It also has decent range, which allows you to take out enemies without risking much. I would recommend leveling this up after Manapaw.
- Manapaw allows you to quickly refill your MP to spam Freezepaw. The reason i keep mentioning having this maxed or close to max level is because it pretty much requires you to for it to work. At level one, it costs and gives 5MP (without Mp reduction) making it literally useless. At level 10 (max) it refills 23 MP, giving you your entire stock of mana. Even at level 8-9, it gives you enough to refill it almost all the way, if not all the way. You also only need 1MP to use it if you use Gentlebros gear, so you can just spam Freezepaw and refill when you need to, giving you literally infinite MP. A strategy i like to use is to place a manapaw before you even run out of MP, and spam Freeze paw like normal, then run back to the circle once you run out, giving you less downtime in between MP droughts.
- Healpaw literally just heals you, so its pretty busted with the combination of limitless MP from manapaw. It will cost more than some of the other spells, but is still worth it. I recommend getting this to at least Lvl 5 or more so its competent instead of barely healing.
- Gravi-ruff allows you to get the enemy more stationary, letting you focus on button mashing more. It can also be used to completely cheese the Dark Old Master by placing one down next to it and spamming Freezepaw and placing Manapaws immediately after you use the previous Manapaw. Freezepaw has enough range to hit DOM while still staying out of the attack circle and placing Manapaw instantly after use lets you get a steady flow of MP.
- Furry Shield is damage reduction, pretty simple.
- Purrzerk is a damage buff, also fairly simple.
