Check out the GameFAQs version for even more in-depth guidance.”
Introduction
- Save often! You can save in the Kyrogate spread around the world. Always save before a fight.
- For hardcore players out there, start in the Hard mode. It’s not advisable to play straight in Insane mode. This guide is made with Insane mode in mind, but it wasn’t a pleasant experience at the beginning since you need to spend a very long time to beat enemies (especially the boss; my first boss took 40 minutes on a successful attempt) with very little room of error. You can try changing it in the Insane mode, but do it after you are nearing the end game. Most enemies will be in ZX modes if you play in the Hard mode anyway so it won’t be that different.
- Levels are not that important. The most important part is to dodge. Learn to dodge enemies’ attacks. Normal mode enemies have slower speed, so lower your difficulty if you are having trouble at a harder difficulty. If you need more levels, increase your difficulty. EX and ZX enemies give more EXP.
- You can use shields in the bullet hell mode. Use it if you think you’re about to get hit.
- Use Holo Shield (active skill) to generate shield. The game doesn’t explain the gameplay well in the beginning so you might miss that.
- Again, there are several types of attack. Check the ground. If there is only 1 tile (you can’t move around), you are expected to use a shield to block attacks. If there are more tiles (3×1 or 3×3 tile attacks), you can block and dodge (it depends on the attack). If your cursor turns to heart, it’s the bullet hell mode. Try not to get hit too much, because your damage will increase based on the number of hits. If you are moved to the middle with a shield on the left/right, use your left and right arrow to block the incoming attacks. There are also other attack types, but they are specific to certain enemies and more straightforward. Here’s a screenshot from the game to help you get started.
- Level up your skills, especially your support. SP-based one is important since you need to have a stable amount of SP to keep on attacking. Charging is bad. If you are confident with your dodging, you don’t need to invest too much in HP, but if you don’t level it up and carry a few with you.
- Regarding attacks, there are 2 types that you can go: burst and stun. At the early game, Photon Cannon does a great job for burst damage. Stun Grenade is good for stun until late game. At the end game, Relic Sword is a versatile attack that can generate shield + SP regen + increase your Lux combo. The latter is important since you can spam it to spam Lux Combo easily. Cheesecake Bomb is good for damage in triple battles at early game.
- For your second party member, Nightingale is good for single EX or ZX enemy. Berserker is good for triple battles or whenever you are in your “special” mode. Bolt Blast is good for stun.
- For Lux Combo, Hyper Buster (Photon Cannon 3x) is good for early game for burst, Electro Slash (Stun Grenade x3) is good for early game for stun. At the end game, Snack Time! (Cheesecake Bomb 3x) is good for healing and/or AoE damage. Elemental Frenzy (Stun Grenade + Aqua Grenade + Flame Grenade) is good for single damage. It deals the best damage and has a chance to stun, burn, and drench.
- Equip all Upgrade Chips as soon as you get them.
- Don’t buy all items right away. Wait for the max discount after you get the region affinity to the max. You can see which region affinity that affects the discount in the bottom right of the shop interface.

– Chapter 1: Boss
Boss: Chronos
My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 21] Heal lv 2, Charge lv 4, Warrior’s Spirit lv 2, Protection lv 3, Multiplier lv 1, Lunex Force lv 1, Saber Plus lv 1, Tetra Burst, Bypass, Crimson Aura
Chronos has 4 skills. 3 are 1 tile attacks (meaning you need to use shield to defend) while one is a 3 tile attack.
1. Feint dash: Chronos will float a bit, facing the screen. Then it will charge up, down, and towards you. It can charge towards you on the second or third attack. Casting the shield right when its second attack hits you will make you able to dodge the second and third attack. It’s useful if you can’t get the timing down.
2. Lightning: Chronos will face towards while raising its right hand (it’s its idle stance btw). There will be 1-3 targets and lightnings will follow up soon after. Use your shield when it comes to your tile. Cast shield right away if there is only 1 target.
3. Crystal anguish: It’s the only 3 tile attacks and the easiest attack Chronos has. 2 spikes will cover the area, leaving you with only 1 tile to stand on. It’s like one of Grimrock’s attacks. You shouldn’t need shield for this.
4. Laserbeam: Both of Chronos’ hands will glow, its right hand straightened, its left hand facing south. It’ll charge up and you need to use your shield at the right timing. Don’t cast it too soon since the laser is quite long.
Lightning and Crystal anguish attack have the same pre-animation, but you only need to see the tile to see which is which.I just spam Photon Cannon and Holo Shield whenever shield is down. Support is focused on SP and shield, then health (if taken damage), and other attacking skills.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh3mUWi4SNw
– We are finally back! The blue warning sign will lead you back to Phantom Realm if you need it. Let’s clean up before we leave. Return to Barrier Facility, and use the south portal to reach Cypher, the seller next to the puppy. Buy U.T. Chip and HP Booster.
– Use the portal to return ot the screen where the Kyrogate is. Talk to Nym, the merchant, and buy both Shield Booster and Skill Capsule.
– Go to Residential Zone, to where Cafe Regolithia is, but don’t enter it. You can talk to Mett to the southeast. He’s the one with blue helmet.
– If you haven’t finished the side quest (or even triggering it), there is a sidequest to the south. You should be able to finish it since you get U.T. Chip.
– Lastly, if you also haven’t finished the other side quest about Crunch E-Bar, now is also the time to finish it.
– Once you finished with all of your business, head to the South-East Hoverport, located northeast of Cafe Regolithia. Board the ship.
– If you didn’t beat Chronos on Legend Mode, feel free to return to the boss location to fight the higher version (EX on normal, ZX on hard). Or feel free to come back to it later, the bosses are tough. The strategy to beat it is the same – the one I listed was for the ZX version, after all.

1. Phase punch: Self-explanatory. Press shield if there is no safe tile, otherwise run to that tile. You need 2 shields.
2. Ki-barrage: several lighting will show up. Dodge them all. It’s similar to Riptide’s attack.
3. Photon field: attacks will come from your left and right. Press left and right accordingly so your shield will nullify the attacks.
4. Power clash: There will be 1 tile below Bella. Bella and Murk Slayer will fly to the middle and you need to bash Z. You’ll take damage if you lose the meter, so bash it before the bar shows up. Very high damage if you lose, 45 damage to the boss if you win. It’s basically a free attack if you know what to do.Same strategy. Spam Photon Cannon and Holo Shield whenever shield is down. Support is focused on SP and shield, then health (if taken damage), and other attacking skills. Heck, even 3x Scepters are harder than this. Make sure to have at least 2 shields.

“Boss”: Vessel 2
Vessel 2 has 3 attacks:
1. Shield Thrust: 1 tile attack. Vessel 2 will suddenly throw shield. Shield immediately.
2. Cross Katana: 3 tile attack. Vessel 2 will thrust blocks of katana to the enemy quickly.
3. Mecha Madness: I hate this attack. You need to position yourself so you don’t get hit. I could only say good luck dodging it. To be honest, I’d rather rely on stun rather than relying on me surviving this attack with no damage.Honestly, I didn’t get attacked a lot. I just spammed Stun Grenade and the boss just kept on being stunned. Have Nickle use Vortex or Bolt Blast – Anti Saber won’t deal much damage to it since it’s not actually a boss.

Stun Grenade lv MAX, Shield lv MAX, Cheesecake lv MAX
Vivia has 3 attacks:
1. Starbeam: several beams will come out in a straight line. Dodge it and use shield if you can’t.
2. Buzzaw Boomerang: a boomerang will be shot in a straight line. It’s best if you avoid that line, but there are a lot of boomerangs. Use shield if needed.
3. Holo Flurry: this one is hard. Stars will come from the rear and the top. Try going as low as possible so you can anticipate the big ones, and use shield if needed.Vivia attacks all require shield, so make sure you have some stored up. Honestly, I didn’t get attacked a lot. I just spammed Stun Grenade and the boss just kept on being stunned. Have Nickle use Anti Saber or Bolt Blast when Bella needs a bit help with the stunning. If you need health, use Snack Time! Lux Combo.

Boss: Raine, Melody, Zara
My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 65] Heal lv 5, Charge lv 5, Protection lv 5, Astro Boost lv 4, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Tetra Burst, Crimson Aura
Barrier lv MAX, Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Boomerang lv MAX, Aqua Grenade lv MAX
Geyser lv MAX, Vortex lv MAX (leveling up Energy Shield is also recommended)
Raine:
1. Bullet Punch: 4 batches of punches will come out to your location. Bait it to your position, move away, repeat for four times. If the third and fourth batches release 3 punches, I usually use shield to be safe.
2. Drone Flurry: the easier attack that Raine has. Just move AFTER Raine goes to your tile, and then wait until she goes to your tile again. Repeat until she’s tired.Melody:
1. Spin Ring: the rings come from bottom to top. Just go to the northwest corner and move down once a ring 1 tile below you starts to spin.
2. Plasma Cage: it’s like Kaprosaur’s attack, but easier. Just stay in one spot and spam shield. Her plasma attacking speed is high – you might not be able to follow up if you move.Zara:
1. Shield Eater: your shield will be removed by a random amount. Make sure to cast Holo Shield again to get it back.
2. Rumble Blast: move your direction to the left and right. Watch out for diagonal feathers – they still can be defended with your shield by pressing left and right.
3. Levistone Piercer: press dodge RIGHT AFTER 3 feathers show up. If you know the timing you won’t ever get hit.Since Melody’s attack is hard to distinguish, I usually move to the northwest corner whenever she attacks. Raine is still the same just like the one in that one side quest. As per Zara, just focus and you won’t get attacked at all. Use AoE attacks if possible, or skills that trigger Lux Combo. Your choice. Make sure to choose Cheesecake Bomb and Tetra Burst whenever it’s available. It’s your constant source of damage.

My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 71] Charge lv 5, Protection lv 5, Astro Boost lv 5, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Power Gambit lv 4, Tetra Burst, Invisible, Crimson Aura
Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Boomerang lv MAX
Bolt Blast lv MAX (leveling up Astral Aura is also recommended)
Lumiknights:
1. Soul Eater: it’s a Lux / Antimatter decreasing move. You’ll have a harder time to use Lux Combo / Phase Form because of this.
2. Cutting Edge: a sword will spawn from the left and a hazard will spawn on a random tile. Move to a tile that don’t have the hazard vertically so you can move up and down to dodge the sword easily. It’s gonna be tough dodging it since you need to see the sword and see the ground, both which can be quite far from each other.Guardia:
1. Relic Sword: Guardia will spawn a sword and either slash you or throw it. Cast shield after it spawns the sword.
2. Telekinesis: bullet hell segment. Just dodge the bullets and swords and use shield if necessary.
3. Cosmic Rift: a laser will decimate 2×3 tiles. Just quickly move to the empty tile.To be honest, the Lumiknights were more of a trouble for me. Feel free to take them out first if you want, although I prefer to attack them with AoE attacks to kill them at once. There is nothing noteworthy to be said about this fight except to dodge the attacks. Prioritize Tetra Burst for support skills and heal with Snack Time or Astral Aura.

My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 83] Charge lv 5, Byte Boost lv 5, Astro Boost lv 5, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Power Gambit lv 5, Tetra Burst, Crimson Aura
Gun Saber lv MAX, Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Aqua Grenade lv MAX
Bolt Blast lv MAX (leveling up Astral Aura is also recommended)
Vivia has 3 attacks:
1. Starbeam: several beams will come out in a straight line. You will need to use shield here. Make sure to avoid the first one and go to the other side, because the big beam will come there. This way you will only need to use 1 shield.
2. Buzzaw Boomerang: a boomerang will be shot in a straight line. It’s best if you avoid that line, but there are a lot of boomerangs. I didn’t have to use shield for it this time.
3. Holo Flurry: this one is hard. Stars will come from the rear and the top. Try going as low as possible so you can anticipate the big ones, and use shield if needed.Vivia is back with harder attacks. Just deal damage as quickly as possible. Nickle can spam Nightingale, and I used Aqua Grenade + Gun Saber combo to build up Lux Meter quickly, although spamming Stun Grenade also works if you want to finish it slower. I used it when I lost my shields.

– Chapter 5: Boss
Boss: Saros-EX
My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 85] Charge lv 5, Byte Boost lv 5, Astro Boost lv 5, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Power Gambit lv 4, Tetra Burst, Invisible, Crimson Aura
Relic Sword lv MAX, Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Aqua Grenade lv MAX, Flame Grenade lv MAX, Plasma Cage lv MAX
Bolt Blast lv MAX, Astral Aura lv MAX, Nightingale lv MAX, Atomic Blaster lv MAX
Despite being listed as having 3 skills in the Database, Saros actually has 4:
1. Chemical Flurry: another bullet hell. Dodge the bullets and use your shield if needed.
2. Phantom Spear: Saros will spawn some spears with a chain. There are actually 2 variations here. One you can dodge by alternating up and down, while the second variation will require you to use a shield on top of alternating the up and down. You’ll notice which is which when you see the spears. If there are three, it’s the second variation. Use the shield when there are 3 spears coming on the right side.Try to position yourself on the other side to dodge it. If you can’t dodge, just use your shield.
3. Skill Seal: it’s a freebie. Some of your skills will be sealed.
4. Several spears will come and move to the other side halfway. It might be a second variation of Chemical Flurry.Spam Nightingale / Berserker and Relic Sword / Stun Grenade. Use Over-Phase once you are able. If you use Elemental Frenzy and the boss has status ailments, you also can alternate it with Plasma Cage and Atomic Blaster.
https://youtu.be/npBO2IGQUys?si=_CMZyZzMZXsY6kcI
Boss: Chaos
My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 85] Charge lv 5, Byte Boost lv 5, Astro Boost lv 5, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Power Gambit lv 5, Tetra Burst, Crimson Aura
Relic Sword lv MAX, Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Aqua Grenade lv MAX, Flame Grenade lv MAX, Plasma Cage lv MAX
Bolt Blast lv MAX, Astral Aura lv MAX, Nightingale lv MAX, Berserker lv MAX, Atomic Blaster lv MAX
Chaos has a lot of similar attack as Saros-EX
1. Quantum Flurry: it’s same as Saros’ fourth attack, but with an additional obstacle being thrown around.
2. Resonance Wave: see Tetra’s analysis. The one in red means you have to put up your shield. You can only use a maximum of 2 shields though, so if the analysis goes red white red white red white, make sure to time it well so 1 shield can last for 2 attacks.
3. Ultimate Chaos: this attack is the reason why I didn’t suggest facing Chaos head on. Several laser will come from everywhere, and in ZX mode, there will also be a head coming from the side. Time your shields properly.
4. Skill Seal: as I said, another freebie.Chaos is very dangerous on ZX mode. I won’t suggest facing him head on. Have one person stunning it with Stun Grenade or Bolt Blast while the other doing their job. I usually focus on Bella’s Relic Sword when attacking to quickly build up lux for Elemental Frenzy. Once the boss has status ailments, have the other person (I prefer Nickle since he has higher damage) do Plasma Cage or Atomic Blaster.
Do not use Nickle’s Over-Phase. Just use his normal Phase Form instead. Chaos’ attack can wipe your party easily if you don’t have high HP. Spam either Nightingale (for Chaos-EX and Chaos-ZX), Berserker, or Atomic Blaster. Berserker has a higher damage output on Phase Mode or Over-Phase, but I found Nightingale to have a more stable damage (I can only do 4 hits max, sometimes 3). Atomic Blaster beat both skills in damage when Chaos has status ailments.
As for Bella, I don’t use her except for Relic Sword and Stun Grenade, but Astro Kick (for damage), Gun Saber (for lux), and Aqua Grenade (for drench) are good alternative if those attacks are sealed. She’s mainly just there to spam Elemental Frenzy. Snack Time!, Steam Grenade (for drench and burn), Raine Squad Deluxe, Hydro Blaster (for drench), and Cosmic Impact (if you have max HP) are good alternatives.
Maintain at least 2 shields and make sure Astral Aura buff is active for your shield and HP regen for healing.

Boss: Corruptoid-EX, Necromia, Murk Slayer-EX
My setup on Legend Mode: [Lv 95] Charge lv 5, Protection lv 5, Byte Boost lv 5, EXP Boost lv 5, Meter Boost lv 5, Tetra Burst, Invisible, Crimson Aura
Relic Sword lv MAX, Stun Grenade lv MAX, Cheesecake Bomb lv MAX, Aqua Grenade lv MAX, Flame Grenade lv MAX, Gun Saber lv MAX, Holo Shield lv MAX
Corruptoid-EX:
1. Sentry Slash: several objects will come fron the right side to the left side, while some holes will also appear here and there. Step to the rightmost tile as soon as you are able! This way you won’t to worry about being attacked. Just move up and down whenever the object spawn right next to you.
Corruptoid-EX also has Haunted Aura, which will regen its HP in real time. It shouldn’t give you any issue though.Necromia:
1. Mind Crush: you need to spam Z, then X. It’s basically a freebie.
2. Necro Blast: this is the hardest attack that Necromia has. Watch the sign at the top middle row. The sign will determine when the laser comes. For example, if you are in your original spot, the H sign will means that you need to use a shield. Yes, use a shield whenever the sign covers the tile you are standing on. The boss will also shoot laser from time to time. Again, use a shield. Lastly, there will also be holes that spawn from time to time. Yes, you use a shield if it spawns below you. This is the reason why you need a lot of shields in this fight. I even lost 5 shields in one turn because of bad luck. Also, since you use a lot of shields, time it well. Sometimes, I used shield too slow to protect against the hole, and the laser attack pwned me since there is a delay to cast the shield again.
Necromia’s Spirit Force makes it unable to be attacked by any attack except Lux Combo.Murk Slayer-EX:
It’s basically a free attack if you know what to do.
His Phase Aura makes him immune to attack that has 100 damage or less, but again, you shouldn’t have any trouble if you upgrade your swords. This fight is really tough on Legend. I advise you to just switch to Normal since you can refight the boss with Nickle later. You MUST upgrade your shield for this fight! It’s impossible to win with only 4 shields because the boss’ attack can easily deplete all your 4 shields. Raise it to 7 at a minimum.
Spam Relic Sword. Use it to raise Shield (yellow orb) if your shield is below 6 and Protection doesn’t spawn in the Support skill, use it to grant HP regen (yellow red orb) if you need SP, otherwise just use it to increase the lux meter (blue orb).
Use Holo Shield whenever yourshield is less than 3. You can use double yellow orb with Relic Sword and gamble on the support skill to come out otherwise.
Be mindful when to use combo! Spam Snack Time! when Corruptoid-EX is still alive, and Elemental Frenzy (or Snack Time! if you got attacked) but make sure to not cast them whenever you have less than 6 shields. Even though Elemental Frenzy can stun, it doesn’t guarantee 100%. I have lost many runs because of this.
Corruptoid-EX is the least of your concerns, and the biggest threat, Necromia, immune to all attacks except Lux Combos, so direct all of your attacks to Murk Slayer-EX. Once Murk Slayer-EX dies, you are free to use Gun Saber to farm lux meter if you want, although I noticed that it grants less than what Relic Sword did on 2 blue orbs. Relic Sword SP usage is quite high, though. So it’s your choice.

– Head east, then south to reach EZ-Burn.
– Head back north and save in the Kyrogate. If you have beaten all ZX monsters, you’ll get Star Trophy.

– Switch to Nickle again and head south again until he is next to the yellow tile.

– Switch to Bella now. You need to do the same thing with Tetra just like you did with Nickle; just keep on switching between purple and yellow tile, and have Bella move to the south after the switch. She’ll eventually reach the red tile below Nickle. Place her there.
– Switch to Tetra and move her to the yellow tile.
– Switch to Nickle. Move him 1 tile south of Bella. Keep on moving him the same way with Tetra, to the west. Pick up Skill Booster on the way. Place him on the purple tile at the end of the road.
