This gaming guide will help you find love in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition by using console commands. While mods are recommended for this, it is possible to achieve without them for a more vanilla experience. You can even marry NPC characters who are not normally available for marriage.
Wifu Console Command Maker (not a program) T.M.
This is a guide to make NPCs that can’t follow or be married to be able to do that.
0. First off, quick save, hard save, and back up your crap-(game data) on a USB drive, Justin Case said so. (Not the British director/producer, but the Safe-Auto guy.)
1. Find the NPC you want to make a follower or marry. Open the console with the tilde key (~). Click on the NPC (or google it). The NPCs ID will appear when you click on them. Take note of this ID; you’ll need it later when setting the relationship via console commands.
2. Make sure that voice actor/actress of the NPC you want has a different vanilla NPC that can be married and has the same voice actor/actress or get a mod otherwise no audio, it will use the vanilla ones voice on the one you used console command’s that couldn’t be married before, and make’s things a little easier in my opinion for example I tested it on Faralda and the game automatically used Senna’s marriage dialog with ferelda because they used same voice actress for both. (caution though some of the NPCs can be mean, rude or evil and I think that might carry over, I don’t know I didn’t test everything.)
If you want to marry the NPC type in: addfac 19809 1
If you want to make the NPC a follower type in: addfac 5C84D 1
3. For the marriage/follower choice to appear, the NPC must like you. Set the NPCs relationship level using the following console commands (separately):
If you prefer a more vanilla approach and the voice actor/actress of the NPC you want has an NPC that can be married, increase your relationship naturally through interactions (quests, buying things, etc.). If not, use the following commands:
Setrelationshiprank “NPC ID HERE” 4
Player.setrelationshiprank “NPC ID HERE” 4
Next, talk to the Temple of Mara’s priest, Maramal, about marriage. Purchase the Amulet of Mara for 100 septims. Maramal can be found at the Riften tavern preaching, and then he’ll walk to the temple where you can buy the amulet. (You can’t just spawn the amulet; at least, it didn’t work for me during testing.)
here are the command’s to do it fast type “coc RiftenBeeandBarb” in the command’s listen for a second to him preach to the “sinners” relaxing after at the bar after a hard day’s thievin.. i mean working and then “coc RiftenTempleofMara” and fast travel go back to where Wifu is, (avoid Brynjolf at all cost this start’s a conversation about the thieves guild if you get caught in his Charismatic talking attack just hit the ~ key and type “disable” and then wipe your hands of that mess forevermore and move on(it was a joke don’t do this)).
4. Reset the NPCs dialogue options if the marriage/follower options don’t appear. Type the following lines into the console (fast traveling worked for me).
Disable (they will disappear, but don’t panic and cry that your new soon to be Wifu is now gone forever just type the next thing exit the console and they’ll come back… usually)
Enable
5. (Optional) If you just want to marry an NPC, you’re done after the last step, the fifth step only pertains to people who are making NPCs followers, or if you want a “battle spouse”. In order for some followers to fight enemies and instead of running around like idiots, you need to set their confidence level. To do this, open the console, click the NPC, and type the following lines into the console (click on npc and then type “getav aggression” or “getav confidence” and no numbers to see if it worked or what is was before).
setav aggression 1
setav confidence 3
6. The last step you have to do is set your follower to essential (look them up first on the wiki they might be already), in order to do this you need to use the NPCs ID Number. To figure out the ID number you need to type the following into the console. (or the wiki has there Id’s and its the refID not the baseID.)
Help “NPCs Name” 4
This will give you the ID, along with a lot of other random data about the NPC, take the code you find and type in the line below.
setessential “The ID you found” 1
7. (Optional) You might find your new follower weak, and that’s because your new follower does not level with you. Chances are they are a very low level and will die very quickly to anything that attacks them. The easiest way to remedy this is to open the console, click your follower and type (Some will still level with you click on them and type “getlevel” every so often to see if they do if not the wiki tell’s there level’s min to max for vanilla players).
setlevel “Insert level here”
After you complete step seven, you’re done. You now have your own essential NPC follower to do your bidding. Take note, if you do not set the NPC as essential, when they die (if not already), you may lose the NPC for good. Using resurrect on the NPC via the console will bring the NPC back to life, but the NPC will no longer follow you and may disappear from the game completely. So far, I haven’t found a way around this, so setting the NPC to essential is a must.
8. (Optional Optional (may not need (Divorce Procedure))) In case you need to divorce them :'( I haven’t tested this part I don’t know if its needed or not but here you go, Click on the NPC first then type these commands one line at a time not all at once.
removefac 51596
Player.removefac c6472
Resetquest 74793
Resetquest 21382
Setstage 74793 10
