Murders on the Yangtze River: English Walkthrough and Achievements Guide

This is a guide for deduction portions of the game, as well as all achievements. Some dialogue (such as the conversations with “???”) have very limited choices and no penalty for wrong responses so I have not included these. I referred to the Chinese steam guides when compiling the achievements/endings lists.

Note that after completing the game you can jump to specific sections within chapters, meaning you can go back and pick up any achievements / endings / knowledge that you missed. These chapter sections are marked in this guide.

There are 3 collection based achievements:

• [Achievement] Traveling Scholar (Collecting all general knowledge):
  There are two easily missed pieces of knowledge, “Slag” in Ch. 3 and “Burden of Proof” in Ch. 6. These are marked by [Knowledge].

Hold SHIFT to walk past the sleeping guard, then quickly hide behind the desk to avoid the officer with the light.

Leave, go to the right and proceed to the second floor.

Second Floor
Walk past the sleeping guard on the left (hold SHIFT), then grab a cup of water from the desk.
Walk back past the sleeping guard to the desk on the right. When the guard next to the desk is turned away, pour the water. The guard will drink it and leave.
Hide behind the desk and wait until the guard heads left, then leave and go right.
