Are you feeling stuck in the game Templum de Malum? Fear not, this guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the entire game. It’s perfect for players who need a little help navigating through the challenges. Let’s get started!
Preface
One thing you only need to watch are the torches – you need to have always one lit, otherwise everything will go dark and you will not be able to light another one. So make sure that you have always one ready in Philip’s or Brimley’s hand, and light a new one before your current one goes out. The number of torches in the game is limited, but they should last long enough to finish the game with safe margin.
Also mind that there are plenty of hints available – if you don’t know what to do next, consult Brimley’s Journal or Talk to him directly for tips on the active screen.
Shipwrecked
Take journal, torch top and torch handle from the ground
Open crate inside the shipwreck
Take flint (there is also a broken compass but you don’t need to take it as it’s not used anywhere)
Walk back and forward up to the Tower entrance – note the two fixed torches at each side of the door (these can’t be taken)
Use torch from your inventory on either Philip or Brimley hand in upper-right section of the screen to equip it
Use flint on equipped torch to light it
Use lit torch on both fixed torches to open the door, and Walk forward.
Grand Entry
Look at the note that is posted on left pillar to read it
(There is also a plank with nail lying on the base of that pillar, but you don’t need to take it)
Open all doors
Walk west to the Dining hall
Use lit torch on the candelabrum on the table
Take the vial
Look at the paintings to investigate them
Open the painting that has hinges (investigation by Look will tell you which one it is)
Take mallet
You can Use the mallet on the crack in far wall to open passage, and then Walk forward, but there is really nothing of use in the next room (and if you’re hell-bent on trying that gong despite the warning, make sure you save the game first!)
Walk north-west to the Cellar
Take torch, Hound’s tooth and scroll
Open the scroll in your inventory to read it (note the runes on the top)
Look at the note placed on the shelf to read it
Notice also the boarded wall – you can try the mallet on it to see what happens, but to minimum effect. You’ll be able to do something with it later.
Walk back to the entry hall and then north to the Waterway
Use vial on the water to obtain Holy water
Use the two crates in the room on the water to create an improvised bridge
Take torch, and Look at the tapestry on the far wall
Use lit torch on the tapestry (never mind what the note in entry hall said…)

Talk to the ghost that appears
Take the Disintegrator!
The Disintegrator is a wand that is very useful for opening many ways (as its name implies, by destroying things), so let’s give it a try to see what it does – Walk back into the Cellar, and Use the Disintegrator on the boarded wall (see, a new path is open!)
Walk forward into the new opening and you find yourself in Basement with a big cauldron; you can’t do much here right now, but the room will be important later after you’ve gathered more ingredients and learned some alchemy.
You can Take the Bottle of Lye from the shelf, but it’s not going to be of use until much later.
