If you’re looking to conquer Dying Light 2 and earn all achievements, this guide is for you. In addition to the base game, we’ll also cover how to obtain DLC achievements. Get ready to dominate with our 100% guide for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, including the latest update. (SPOILERS ahead, only for English version)
Introduction
This guide was made after the Nightmare update, which thankfully did not add any difficulty related achievements, which means you can pick any one to enjoy the game and obtain achievements at your own leisure.
Main/Story Achievements
These achievements will be obtained naturally via story completion, or are so natural to completion/unmissable that they are considered main missions. I’ll keep some descriptions short/blank since the achievements are self explanatory.
You Never Forget Your First…
Craft your first item
Should be obtained the first time you make a medkit during the Prolouge.
First Shot
Use an Inhibitor for the first time
Also should be acquired once you progress through the first story quest in Villedor
Into the Unknown
Reach Villedor
Same here.
Herzlich Wilkommen!
Enter the Bazaar
Good Night & Good Luck
Survive your first night.
Should be acquired pretty naturally in the game
Sancho Panza
Activate your first Windmill.
One story mission forces you to activate a windmill, so this achievement is also acquired naturally if not done previously
Oh, So This Is How It Works!
Modify your weapon for the first time.
Also acquired naturally if doing side quests/first side quest given for the Shock mod. But just mod your weapon.
Flag Burning
Clear your first Bandit Camp.
Obtained in the story after first Bandit Camp is captured.
Under Pressure
Activate your first Water Tower
Also obtained in story after capturing the first water tower
On the Trail of the Enemy
Learn Waltz’s location
Progress further in the story and learn about Waltz’s whereabouts
Light in the Darkness
Activate your first Electrical Substation
Acquired once you turn on the first substation in New Villedor.
Get Outta My House!
Defeat the Renegades attacking the Fish Eye
Also acquired by progressing further in the story
We Will Be Heard!
Restore the radio broadcast tower
Acquired once you finish the story quest Broadcast.
Known Associate
Learn the whereabouts of Veronika Ryan.
Obtained once you get the quest Veronika.
Debris and Ashes
Reach the Observatory
Obtained when you progress through the Veronika story quest.
Brush with Death
Wake up after the missile strike
Obtained after the Veronika story quest.
Going Down
Enter the X-13 elevator
Obtained halfway through the last story mission/X-13
Family First
Find your sister
Also obtained near the end of the last story mission.
Your World, Your Rules
Complete the game with any ending
Miscellaneous Achievements
These are achievements I deem as random/out of the way achievements, such as doing specific tasks.
It Wasn’t That Hard, Was It?
Defeat your first GRE Anomaly.
Just taking down your first GRE Anomaly/Revenant, which should be done when doing the other achievement (taking down all Anomalies).
Being All Social
Join a co-op session.
This game is different than DL1 in the sense it is easier to join co-op sessions, which they have a game browser for, so this one is easy to get.
Night Hunter
Kill a Volatile.
Similar to the first game, get a good weapon and cheese some UV spots/light to kill a Volatile easy.
Can’t Touch This!
Kill 20 enemies in a row with melee weapons without taking damage.
They found out that ranged weapon is too easy and now it is only melee this time, just cheese the new combat system via grapples/parry/grapple hook grabs to get this easily with zombies.
After the Fall
Fall from a combined height of at least 10,994 meters.
Easy to get now that there are skyscrapers, just jump from the VNC Tower in the middle-bottom left of New Villedor if you still do not have it.
Tunnel Entrance
Activate your first Metro Station.
Will most likely be obtained passively through playing, but if not just get the Metro Station near the Fish Eye.
Death From Afar
Kill a Spitter using a ranged weapon.
I do not know if guns work for this achievement since I obtained it when they were not added and used a bow, but just get a ranged kill on any Spitter to get this.
Slowpoke!
Lose the maximum level of Chase.
The past maximum level of Chase was Chase 4, which was in all difficulties, but Nightmare has added Chase 5 as a hidden level. I do not know if this Chase level is considered the new max since I obtained this before the update, but I am pretty sure doing a chase level 4 will be considered enough to unlock this achievement.
Terminal Headache
Perform 50 headshots with a ranged weapon.
Use any ranged weapon to hit 50 headshots, easier to do with the aiming skill unlocked in the Power tree.
You’re Going Down!
Perform 50 takedowns
Do 50 takedowns on enemies/zombies, which can be easily farmed if you have Blade Takedown and go to any GRE Quarantine Facility.
Tickets, Please!
Use a Metro Station to Fast Travel.
Simple. Fast Travel to an unlocked Metro Station.
Modder
Modify your weapons at least 50 times.
Spam all your tip/shaft/grip mods on any weapon you find (lol).
Who Wants To Be A…
Collect 1,000,000 in Old World Money.
One of the first semi-grindy misc. achievements, but just go to any Vendor and sell items and buy them back, since it counts as collecting money due to being cumulative. I sold some expensive artifact gear and also 24,000+ mutation samples, since each mutation sample is 1 coin and it got me to 1 million after about 15-20 minutes.
Get the Point?
Kill 50 enemies with a Spear.
Kind of an out-of-the-way achievement, but just make sure you priortize Spear kills on zombies when you get the opportunity. If you still do not have this achievement, do GRE Anomaly since they have zombies and spears.
Lightning Reflexes
Perform a Perfect Block 10 times in a row without taking damage.
The first sh*tty achievement in my opinion due to how the combat system works sometimes, but just parry 10 times. The 10 parries don’t need to be “in a row” as well as the description says, you just need to get ten parries in total before getting hit again. This means the enemy can do unblockable/unparryable attacks at you, but just make sure you dodge/perfect dodge them.
Miscellaneous Achievements cont’d….
Meet all your Sparker love interests.
This was a weird achievement to get since it was related to only one side quest, but just start the Sparker side quest “The Matchmaker,” which is in Trinity in Old Villedor. This quest will then turn into talking to about 3 people, which they can be spawned in after 24 in-game hours and going back to where the quest began. Choices also do not matter for this quest. The first girl, Juliet, requires nothing but completing the quest. The second person, Vinnie, requires you to beat the story mission “Welcome On Board” and the previous person. The third person, Maya, requires you to beat the side quest “Sentimental Value” which is located nearby.
A Friend in Need…
Help 50 survivors in Encounters.
Grind out the blue survivor encounters, these can be the cage traps, Renegade hostages, and more.
Don’t Look Up
Perform Smash on at least 50 enemies.
Grind out getting Smash kills. I did this around a military convoy area during daytime, since I could just get a Smash kill then jump away and repeat.
Tanning Salon
Use the UV Flashlight to kill a Viral
Upgrade the UV Flashlight and weaken a viral to kill it faster with the flashlight.
Ultramarathon
Travel at least 960km
The most time-consuming achievement out of these, and also the last one I obtained. Aidan runs at 6 m/s, and you need to WALK/RUN 960,000m, not paraglide/grapple hook/etc. While this achievement can be obtained passively through just playing the game a lot, you most likely have to consciously just run/walk and not paraglide/grapple. On average, this achievement can take up to 45~ hours constantly if Aidan just runs in a circle.
To do this, plug in a controller (if you do not have a controller, try and look up other methods to keep your character moving in a circle via keyboard), and have two rubberbands setup to have the character move forward and turn left. I did this in the Trinity Metro Station in Old Villedor since there is a big room that you can hit the wall and not make the game auto-pause. You can also enable auto-sprint in the settings to make sure Aidan is hitting that 6m/s.
Bing Bang Boom!
Perform an Air Kick after a Double Wall Run
Another out-the-way achievement (at least for me, I never find myself doing this constantly in combat), but you have to wall run twice and then do a Air Kick, not drop kick, this done by holding the kick button in mid-air while looking at the enemy. I found this easy to do by going to one of the cramped buildings in Old Villedor, which had a convenient two buildings nearby where you can wall run from the higher wall to the lower one, and then hold E/kick button to Air Kick a zombie.
Air Kick only works on AWARE enemies or if you do not have Smash unlocked, so make sure the zombies/enemy know of your presence or at least do not have Smash unlocked when trying to get this achievement.
That’s Teamwork!
Kill 100 enemies while playing with at least 2 other players
Hardest achievement of them all (lol), since you need friends. But thank god for the session browser, which lets you invade random games with 2 other people and then you can go in that match and just go around and kill zombies before they kick you, which is what I did until I got the 100 kills.
Grindy Achievements
These are achievements I deem to be grindy and you have to go out your way to obtain all of these.
I have also been using MapGenie recently to keep track of collectibles and locations I’ve been to help with achievements like these, below is the MapGenie for DL2:
https://mapgenie.io/dying-light-2/maps/villedor
Parkour Master
Achieve maximum Parkour Proficiency
Level up parkour tree. This can be obtained passively in a run, but if not, find a spot in New Villedor where you can glide between two points easily and start a chase at night, it will rack up XP really fast.
Combat Master
Achieve maximum Combat Proficiency
Same as above, but harder to grind. You can do the new GRE Aberrations (Anomaly redos), to farm combat points if you still do not have max proficiency.
Boot Licker
Reach City Alingment 7 for any faction.
Can be done when trying to grind out all facilities. Me personally, I did PKs for the crossbow since at the time they did not add guns yet (lol).
Municipal Services
Assign all facilities
The first of many go to this location, do something, and go do it again (lol).
Ban Hammer
Clear all Bandit Camps
Kill all the bandit lieutenants and the leader to capture the camps.
Can’t You Read the Signs?
Collect all inhibitors hidden in GRE Quarantines.
Go to all the GRE Quarantines and get all 4 inhibitors in each one. As these increase in difficulty, there are more zombies and enemy types within the floors, but just use Blade Takedown on the virals and stealth most of the way and you should be fine. If you have trouble lockpicking, just upgrade the blueprint at a Craftmaster and you can force open certain locks up to Hard.
Don Quixote
Activate all Windmills.
Go to all the windmills and do the parkour challenge within it to activate the windmill at the top. Some also have enemies, but they are not that difficult. To cheese these challenges, just paraglide on the top of them or use the grapple hook level 2 to grapple yourself towards the vaultable edges and do it till you reach the top.
Find Anything Interesting?
Open all Airdrops.
Find all the military air drops and regular air drops and open them. Some require parkour challenges, but you can just cheese again with the grapple hook level 2. The trick is that you grapple twice towards a wall/skyscrapper/etc, then wall run, then grapple twice again, and repeat until you reach the top.
Below on the map, you can see the Borough areas have a lot of airdrops. These ones only contain gear and are considered Very Hard lockpicks, which are easier to get compared to the parkour challenge Military ones.
Tube map
Activate all Metro Stations.
Simple. Turn on all Metros. Some have zombies and need to be done at night, others have Renegades, which it will tell you on the map
Ironheart
Max out your Stamina
Can be done by putting all inhibitors into Stamina, which will max out at 700.
Fit as a Fiddle
Max out your Health
Can be done by putting all inhibitors into Health, which also maxes at 700.
Surprisingly, there is no achievement for all satellite towers and inhibitors collected, but you can use MapGenie to find all possible regular inhibitors and NG+ inhibitors to help max out both health and stamina. ALSO, I don’t know if it has changed but some inhibitors ARE MISSABLE. Which is listed below:
- The First Biomarker – You need to complete “Markers of Plague” in the story and also control the “Alder” windmill nearby to unlock this quest, but it rewards an Inhibitor. I believe this quest comes unavailable once you progress far enough and unlock New Villedor.
- Cathedral – You need to pick Juan’s side before the Broadcast quest and help him find the UV Lamps, which will give you access to go to the Cathedral mission and get another 3 inhibitors.
Revenants
Defeat all GRE Anomalies
These boss fights are very easy if you have a good weapon and decent knowledge on using parkour combat, but tl;dr just jump around and kill the anomalies.
True Nightrunner
Complete all Nightrunner Trials
Similar to DL1’s achievement, but go complete all Nightrunner parkour challenges around the map. You do not need a specific time either.
Grindy Achievements cont’d…
Below are the damn collectible achievements. Thankfully, these ones only include BASE GAME ones, so do not worry about having to acquire added-in collectibles due to updates or the DLC ones. I SEVERLY, recommend using MapGenie, since it is very common to forget what collectibles you have. Below are also missable collectibles:
- Newspaper Article – October 11th, 2020: This is acquired in the prolouge but also has a new location that I do not know of, which should be on MapGenie
- Paradise Lost, Book IV: Also in prolouge at the church, but will spawn in one of the Open World churches if missed.
- GRE Report – Quatermaster Pike #1-#3: These are acquired in the “The Ball is In Your Court” mission given by Dodger in the Bazaar, make sure you pick these up.
- Carriers Side Quest collectible: Make sure you talk to the carrier at the first PK base after being caught in the Metro (he has the green jacket and is the first person you see to your left after leaving interrogation room) to have access to the Carrier side quests, which has one collectible in it.
- X13 collectibles: There are also many collectibles in the last mission of the game, make sure you obtain them because you will NOT be able to get them again unless you NG+/join another person.
- Car Factory Renegade Order: This is one of the Renegade order collectibles that are in the Car Factory, make sure you use Survivor Sense and keep your eye peeled for this one because you can also miss it and have to either NG+/join another person.
Street art Aficionado
Discover all Graffiti Tag Collectibles
Audiophile
Find all Collectible Recordings
Archivist
Find all Collectible Notes
Bloody Ties Achievements
These are all the achievements for the DLC Bloody Ties, which in my opinion has some of the harder ones
Nemesis
Meet Skullface
Beat the first story mission.
Night of Terrors
Survive the Night of Terrors
Progress in the Bloody Ties story.
Enter the Hall
Reach Carnage Hall
Progress in the Bloody Ties story.
My Friend, Ciro
Decide Ciro’s Fate
Progress in the Bloody Ties story. You do not need to do a specific choice.
Skullcrusher
Defeat Skullface
Progress in the Bloody Ties story and do the final bossfight.
He can be pretty difficult if you do not know his attack patterns, but just make sure you perfect dodge his kicks and abuse cover for his electric attacks.
Above was all the DLC story missions, below are the others.
Connoisseur
Find all Carnage Hall collectables
Another damn collectable achievement (lol), where I definitely recommend using MapGenie. Not only are there the collectables in Carnage Hall, but also a few in the Villedor open world as well. Here is how to obtain the open world ones:
- Fighter Cards: The fighter cards from the DLC are obtained via doing the Portrait of a Hangover quest, given by Severus at Carnage Hall.
- The Fights #2 Recording: This collectible is done by doing the side quest The Only Hope, which is given by I believe Ogar deeper in the story.
- The Fights Recording: This one is in Carnage Hall but can be considered missable. There is another recording that is obtained by making sure you meet up with Ogar after you meet Ciro again in the arena (it should be seen as a OPT quest marker)
Below is all Carnage Hall notes/recordings:
The Madman of Villedor
Earn a gold medal in all ‘Madmen of Villedor’ trials
Earning a gold medal in all three of these was a semi-pain, since they all acquire certain amounts of skill. Treasure Hunt was the hardest in my opinion, since you have to do under 30~ seconds. Below is a video to get around the time limit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-SZ182Xqbg
For the other two challenges, the parkour one you just need to run fast and time jumps right, and then utilize grappling hook level 2/paraglide at the final sprint at the end. The suicider crossbow one you need to go to one of the corners of the arena and find a tree stump. Stand on it and then focus on shooting all the suiciders, and if they get close they shouldnt explode.
True Champion
Earn a gold medal in all Carnage Hall shows.
The hardest achievement in terms of skill and patience (lol). Getting gold medals in all the Parkour, Freak Shows, and Rumbles is pretty difficult due to having to memorize many routes, but below are some tips and tricks to help:
- Freak Shows: You can cheese most of these if you have max health and max stamina, just get close and wail multiple attacks on them. It is also ideal to have legend points in some of the weapons if necessary, such as the knuckleduster skill for the Gorilla fight. Other than that, just cheese dodge and keep attacking.
- Parkour shows: You need to memorize the route for all four maps and make sure you time jumps/dashes/speed ups well (I would HIGHLY recommend being fully leveled up in parkour prof. along with max grapple hook and paraglide upgraded.). Some sections and checkpoints can also be cheesed via grappling hook level 2 grabs or paraglide boosts.
- Rumbles: The kill enemy challenge (I forgot the name so if it is called Rumbles then yay me), you need to go around and kill multiple enemies. Similar to freakshows in which you can just go up to Goons/Demolishers and cheese them, but as for Spitters you can grapple most of them and they’ll die to fall damage, while the Rampages(sprinters with super armour) you have to dodge and wait for them to slow down and attack. As for the Revenant/Volatiles that appear at the end, they can also be treated like the Freak shows and just cheesed to death.
