Hey gamers! Looking to conquer Phantom Fury and unlock all the achievements? Look no further! This guide will provide a step-by-step walkthrough to help you achieve 100% completion in this indie game. Let’s get started!
Introduction
Story Achievements
What did I sign up for?
Begin a game on the hardest difficulty
Easy enough, right? There are three difficulties ranging from Easy to Hard. Just choose Hard, load up a new game, and done.
Eye In the Sky
Destroy a helicopter
Technically, this isn’t a story achievement, but there are so many instances where a helicopter shows up that it would be strange NOT to destroy one. The train sequence is likely the easiest one.
Tin can trash
Defeat the Los Alamos Defender
An unmissable boss fight about halfway into the game. The Defender is a sleeper of a fight, just spam missiles and slide a bit during their charge up attacks.
Safer Than A Screwdriver
Retrieve the Demon Core
Another story achievement which will pop after obtaining the demon core from the research facility. Just pick it up, literally.
Open your mind
Defeat the Psychic Giant
This unmissable boss fight is a little tricky compared to the former encounters. Dealing with the elite mobs is the annoying part but use Loverboy for quick headshots while sliding around the arena.
Mess With The Best…
Defeat the Colonel
The Colonel fight is borderline laughable. Shoot him enough and he’ll stunlock into a defeat pose which gives easy hits. This is a two stage boss fight that takes place in his penthouse near the end of the game.
Never again
Defuse the Demon Core Bomb
Yet another unmissable story achievement which requires Shelly to disarm the demon core bomb. This happens a couple minutes after the Colonel fight.
Armored Gore
Defeat the Mech
Did you think the Colonel was the final boss? Of course not! Time for a completely random betrayal by our close comrade. This fight is harder then the Colonel, but not by much; just slide around and spam rockets or Blade’s magnum for good measure. The entire arena is littered with ammo, as well.
Heskel, who?
Complete the game
Congratulations! It doesn’t matter what difficulty you decided to go through; this’ll pop after finishing off the final boss and beginning the credits.
Bedtime Story
Complete the game on Easy or higher
As the description states, difficulties stack so even if you didn’t play on easy, this’ll pop after completing the game.
What a time to be alive
Complete the game on Medium or higher
As the description states, difficulties stack so even if you didn’t play on medium, this’ll pop after completing the game.
Morning Stretch
Complete the game on Hard
Ah, the highest difficulty. This game isn’t that bad on a mechanical scale; just take it slow, conserve your important ammo (rocket launcher, magnum, etc.) for the difficult fights, and it’ll be fine. Focus on getting the defensive upgrades for Shelly rather than the weapon ones, as well.
Arcade Achievements
Claw Through
Get a prize from the claw machine
This isn’t exactly Yakuza in terms of claw difficulty. There are a number of machines located throughout the game so this is an easy get.
Turbo Killer
Beat the Turbo Killer arcade game
This is your classic shoot ’em up arcade game. The first instance you come across this machine is in the desert diner. Not much to be said here, I did it on my first try and obtained a score of 960. To play it safe, aim for 960 or above to pop this achievement.
Bullseye
Hit dartboard right in the center 3 times in a row
Probably one of the trickier arcade achievements to obtain. I used the dartboard in the desert diner; try aiming for the 20 as I did in the video below. That seemed to be a good place for consistency. Hit a bullseye three times in a row then you’ve got it.
STRIKE!
Get a strike in the Chicago Mall bowling lanes
This achievement is strange. The bowling lanes are located in only one area, the Chicago Mall near the end of the game. There aren’t any actual bowling balls so I ended up using some grenades. They didn’t go down all at once so you should be fine with walking up and knocking them down.
Super Racer
Get 1000 points in the Super Racer 4 arcade game
By far the most obnoxious arcade achievement. A lot of this comes down to luck. The machine I ended up using was located in the Chicago Mall near the end of the game. My best tip is to up your sensitivity BIG TIME and keep trying. It’s only 1000 points so not impossible by any means. Video below anyway.
Misc. Achievements
Baller
Get the basketball in the hoop
Unlike other games, the basketball physics in Phantom Fury are doable. The first hoop is in the desert part near the start of the game. Just pick up a basketball and lob it in for an easy achievement.
Heavy Lover
Consume the whole ammo capacity of a heavy weapon
There are a few heavy weapons in the game. The ones we’ll see most often are the grenade launcher and minigun. Just unload the ammo fully until it runs dry for this to pop.
Lock and Load
Picked up all weapons
The description of this needs a rework. This only popped after obtaining AMMO for every weapon in the game. These are the weapons as follows…
Stun Baton (First weapon obtained, unmissable.)
MechCanOpener (Obtained before the Los Alamos Defender fight, unmissable.)
HSKL-9M (Obtained during the medical center, unmissable.)
Loverboy (Obtained during the first care package, unmissable.)
Blade’s Magnum (Obtained in Chicago from Blade, unmissable.)
GDF 212 Shotgun (Obtained during the medical centre, unmissable.)
Motherflakker (Obtained from Grandpa’s cabin, MISSABLE.)
HSKL-762AP (Obtained from missile laboratory, MISSABLE.)
Echis Compact SMG (Obtained in missile base, MISSABLE.)
Ion Bow (Obtained in bunker cellar, MISSABLE.)
Photon Repeater (Obtained from research laboratory, MISSABLE.)
Bowling Bomb (Obtained in the desert, unmissable.)
Microstinger (Obtained from robot test room, MISSABLE.)
Plasma Cannon (Obtained underwater in GDF prison, MISSABLE.)
Foam Modulator (Obtained during train sequence, unmissable.)
Bile Spitter (Obtained from research laboratory, MISSABLE.)
Psychic Giant’s Head (Obtained from Giant boss, unmissable.)
Express Ticket
Get off the train in 10 minutes or less
Sounds harder than it actually is; 10 minutes is more than enough to speed through this section. Just remember where enemies are and make sure to abuse the heavy weapons on the way back from the front of the train.
BONK!
Defeat a Heavy Soldier using only the stun batonLoad up a level on easy and walk up to one of the big guys- play the game enough and you’ll recognize them. Then, slap them with your stun baton until they fall down. Damaging them in any other way will nullify the pop.
New PR
Kill a Grunt with a BarbellTo my knowledge, there’s only one area to do this and it’s near the very end of the game. On the gym floor of the GDF building, there are barbells that Shelly can pick up and throw at targets. Video attached for clarity.
