Are you an avid fan of Elevator Action™ -Returns- S-Tribute but struggling to unlock all the achievements? Look no further! This article provides a comprehensive guide to help you conquer those tricky achievements. Don’t miss out on any of the game’s rewards – read on for a full walkthrough.
The achievements
Stage 1 completed
Just play and you will get it. It’s a beautiful remake of the first game. Check the description for the 500,000 Points achievement below for more information about how to get this.
Stage 2 completed
Just play and you will get it. What can I say. Now it’s horizontal! I loved this arcade. Check the description for the 500,000 Points achievement below for more information about how to get this.
Stage 3 completed
Just play and you will get it. It’s cool. Check the description for the 500,000 Points achievement below for more information about how to get this.
Stage 4 completed
Just keep playing. You are closer now. Check the description for the 500,000 Points achievement below for more information about how to get this.
Final stage completed
Just play through the 5th stage and complete the game. Remember that the end section has a countdown and if you are unlucky, you may lose, so remember to make a quicksave around this point. Check the description for the 500,000 Points achievement below for more information about how to get this.
Machine gun
Destroy the wood boxes and pick up the power up item with an M.
Launcher
Destroy the wood boxes and pick up the power up item with an L (see the achievement image).
100,000 points
I sped-ran through the game and I finished it with 150,000 points, so just play and you will get it. Thankfully, the score is not reset if you have to use any continues.
500,000 Points
The first step is making the game easier so you don’t run out of continues. Use both config menus, the external one and the in-game one.
External menu:
Select: Continue = infinite, Difficulty = Low and Keep Weapon = On
In-game menu:
Select: Game Level = Easy. Player Stock = 4 (“stock” is “lives”) and Grenade Stock = 50 (I have to admit I never use grenades though, lol)
Go to the end of level 2, which you can see in the next image:
Once you are there (it’s a good time to quicksave for safety, I guess), jump over the final elevator at the top, go to the top right and stand next to the barrels. Some guys in orage will spawn non-stop. Try to punch them, as you will get double points for them. You have to hit them three times to kill them. Also, try to look to the left so you can kill any enemies coming from the lower levels. Just don’t worry about running out of time, because you’ll just lose a life (unlike in the final mission, in which running out of time in the missile launch countdown means game over) and you can keep grinding points, because you’ll have infinite continues and this is not really a problem.
You can check my video about how it’s done:
All characters completedl
OK, this one is tricky. This achievement seems to be glitched in some way, because I finished the game three times and nothing happened until I checked the Steam boards and got some advice. It looks like you’ll have to do two things. First go to the external options menu, go to “Screen Settings” and turn VSync “Off”. I don’t know if this one really works or if it’s just wishful thinking, but some person in the forums said it was useful, so I did it. Then, just go to the ending of the Final Mission and quicksave just before the final countdown starts, or at the end if you get there with enough time and you are feeling confident, as I did here:
You have to finish the game with one character, then quickload your game, kill the character (just drop them to the elevators in a lower level or through the gaps, but that’s more complicated) and finish the game with the next character. Then, quickload your game a third time, kill the character again and then choose the final character, finish the game a third time and the achievement will unlock before the credits are even done.
Playing “Elevator Action”
When you finish the main game, the credits invite you to play “OLD”. So, you can see that there’s an option to play “OLD” in the main menu. Just select it and you’ll get to the menu for the original game!
10,000 points in Elevator Action
(Or should I say “10,000 PIONTS”?) This is not as hard as it looks like. Just make the game as easy as possible and play it. I got it before the second level was done. Just go to the config menu and give yourself 9 lives and select Speed “9”, which sounds as if it was the fastest, but it’s actually the slowest. You’ll play the game in slow motion and as you progress, you should be able to get 10,000 points before it gets too hard.
I also tried to stay in one floor and wait for the enemies to come for me and shoot them, but they seemed to get smarter or more aggressive, so I just moved on and I found it actually easier.
So, this is it. I hope this guide will help someone!
