If you’re looking to get every achievement in Trials of Mana, this guide is for you. We’ll provide straightforward instructions for completing all achievements in the game.
Introduction
You will need to do a total of 3 playthroughs to get 100% achievements. Took me 31 hours to get 100% for this game, it really is an easy game to get all achievements for, just the amount of playthroughs needed is a bit imo.
First off, there is only ONE missable achievement as far as I know (TECHNICALLY, but more on that below) and that would be the Throw Money at it achievement in chapter 1 in the Dwarf Village. You need 5000 Lucre to purchase Nitromyte, which is a lot for that point in the game. But you can also get this in NG+
Enough introductions, let’s get started.
Paths
You can technically do any of these playthroughs in any order you want, and you can pick any character you want for your first playthrough. For simplicity purposes, this is what I personally chose
-1st playthrough: You can pick anyone you want, but just remember that who you picked 1st WILL matter in the 2nd and 3rd playthroughs. For my first playthrough, I picked Duran as the main, but you do NOT want to pick Angela as your main for the 2nd and 3rd playthroughs, you will get the same final boss as Duran
For this playthrough, my party was: Duran, Riesz and Angela. Again, it doesn’t matter who you pick, but just remember who you did for the next playthroughs.
-2nd playthrough: You will need to complete post-game content in your first playthrough to get the New Game Plus option. I picked Kevin, but you can also pick Charlotte as your main. You will also get a new ability in which your characters get +300% EXP after every fight, which levels up everyone super quickly.
For this playthrough, my party was: Kevin, Hawkeye and Charlotte
After this playthrough, you should have all the party member achievements. You should also get the class mastery achievements in the post-game.
-3rd playthrough: I played as Hawkeye, but you can also pick Riesz. This playthrough I just ran by everything. If you do want to retain the levels from your 2nd playthrough, you will have to beat the post-game boss again. This playthrough is ONLY for getting to the last final boss you need.
For this playthrough, my party was: Hawkeye, Kevin and Charlotte
I won’t spoil the potential boss names in this section. If you absolutely care to know the names, there will be a ‘boss’ section. But here’s what’s important to get all the possible final bosses on those 3 playthroughs:
Duran/Angela
Kevin/Charlotte
Hawkeye/Riesz
As long as you don’t pick 2 of the same main characters that leads to the same final boss, you should be able to get everything in 3 playthroughs.
Also, there is only 1 difficulty-based achievement, and that’s for beating the post-game boss on ‘hard’. You do not have to play the entire game on this difficulty, but you will have to beat that boss on hard. You can switch difficulties any time (other than playing on the ‘No Future’ difficulty in NG+, but there’s no achievement for this, so don’t bother).
It also does not matter what classes you chose when leveling up. There are great guides here for each subsequent party members in the guides section that I highly recommend checking out. Especially on your first playthrough.
Unmissable Achievements
As long as you complete the game, none of these achievements are missable. So don’t worry about missing any of these.
Character Achievements
Play with all six main characters: Duran, Angela, Riesz, Hawkeye, Charlotte and Kevin
You require 2 playthroughs to get all these achievements. As long as you’re not picking party members twice, you will be able to get this on the 2nd playthrough. You do NOT have to play through the game 6 times to get all these, they will pop up after the credits and before starting the post game.
After playing all six main characters, you will get the Mana Sword’s Children achievement
Ultimate Class Achievements
These achievements cannot be obtained until the post game. These achievements are for each respective character. This will be the first quest you do upon starting post-game. You will have to be class 3, which you should have when you reach this point (at least I hope so).
Missable Achievements (Technically)
Okay, so when I say -technically- missable, I mean it is, but it’s so hard to in NG+ and NG++ that you would have to do it on purpose at that point because you will have so much Lucre you won’t know where to spend it.
So, when you reach the Dwarf Village, you will be given the option to buy Nitromyte for 5000 lucre. If you don’t want to grind and get this on your first playthrough, then save it for NG+ and you’ll get it then. But if you say ‘no’ on all 3 playthroughs you do, you will technically miss this achievement, but trust me, you won’t.
Progression Achievements
For the most part these are self-explanatory. It’s incredibly likely you will not get ‘Extreme Power’ on your first playthrough, as it requires you to reach level 92, which would take a really long time to do on non-NG+, because you don’t have the ‘Love of Mana’ ability, which boosts the EXP you gain from battles by 300%. It’s also super worth noting, that if you found 40 li’l cactus on your first playthrough, there will always be a chance at multiplying your exp by 3. So you will inevitably get this.
Magic Pot
Maxing out the pot to level 5 will definitely take time. But if you don’t get this in your first playthrough, don’t worry about it, you will almost certainly get it in NG+.
Treasure Chests
Self-explanatory, just open every chest you see and you’ll get to 200 eventually.
Lucre
At first I was really confused by how this achievement was worded. I thought it meant to just collect 500,000 lucre. But it turns out, that’s not the case. You need to actually have 500,000 lucre for the achievement to count, NOT have gotten it in total. Poorly-worded imo.
Cactus Companion
First and foremost, NONE of the Li’l Cactus’ are missable. If you are having issues with finding the li’l cactus, there is a good guide here[www.neoseeker.com]
Boss Achievements
Depending on who you are playing as, the Black Rabbite will be in different locations.
- Angela / Duran must visit Crystal Desert.
- Charlotte / Kevin must visit Mirage Palace.
- Hawkeye / Riesz must visit Night Cavern.
This is the game’s ‘superboss’, so if you’re having difficulty, you can always switch to a lower difficulty. He isn’t really all that hard though.
SPOILERS!! DO NOT HOVER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BE SPOILED!!
Character specific bosses
These 3 achievements are why you need to complete the game 3 times.
- Mondoragon is exclusive to Duran/Angela
- Dark Lich is exclusive to Kevin/Charlotte
- Archdemon is exclusive to Hawkeye/Riesz
Post Game
This is the ‘true’ final boss. The only thing you need to watch out for here, is you need to switch to ‘hard’ mode in the options menu before the boss with Anise . You do NOT have to play the entire game on hard mode, despite other online forums and guides telling you have to. This is FALSE. I got this achievement by simply switching the difficulty before the boss fight.
Trials of Mana
If you got this achievement, that means you’ve 100%ed the whole game, congratulations!
I really hope you found my guide helpful. I enjoyed getting 100%. I never played the original SNES version, but definitely want to sometime. Hope your next 100% achievement game treats you well.
Until next time!
